Did they preflower? May 1st is kinda early for clones.

LOL - have you checked out @gramps’ plants from the previous 2 seasons? Do you know where he lives and how long he’s been growing there? My point is, he obviously knows what he’s doing and when to do it. He’s within 11 days of when he transplanted into his 400 gallon bags last year, and - as usual - he had the biggest plants most of us have seen.

On May 11th, 2020 - the first day he planted this Bling…

Yeah Im in Norcal too like Gramps. Most people put clones out around June 1st, even Mid May clones can be a risk. I know Gramps knows what he doing, but I was just asking to get more info to see if he made it without any early preflower. Even if it preflowers a little it can change the structure of the plant and stunt veg growth. I usually start seeds in late March and they can be outside without supp lighting, but my clones I give them a little supp light at night. I will continue with a little supp light until the full moon, which is late May. You can assume I’m an idiot, but the outdoor plant culture from where I’m from runs deep, I grew up with plants in my backyard.

Gramps sunrise and sunset was just less than 14 hours of light on May 1st, which is risky.

Even if they revert they more than make up for it by October . No risk I have plenty in jars and still trimming last seasons . I started a few weeks early they got crowded in the tent May 1 is always my target day . But I not the expert here just an old timer that has had great grows . I don’t worry about the day length only freeze and frost . I purchase my clones and feminized seed early before the spring rush for my choices .

Yeah I’m usually ok in mid May with clones, but a few cloudy days or tree shade can initiate early May flower, followed by some reveg characteristics like single fingers and more branching at the apical meristem.

The May preflower with clones is often dependent on genetics too.

Yep more branching that’s what I’m after then I spread with the nets and end up with giant plants and buds . I hate when I grow the wrong way and my apical meristem go’s crazy and need the ladder at seasons end . I had to google apical meristem lol

The OG Kush will never survive your summer humidity outdoors. Sorry.

I can’t put clones out in Southern Cali until June either. They’ll prematurely bud or prematurely bud then reveg. It was an expensive lesson learned, my first year growing. lol

In the past when my grows reverted / reveg they just got bigger and a lot more tops . But maybe its just dumb luck . I guess I just plant to early when it starts to warm up I go for it . But I bet I would need a bigger ladder if I was growing down south . Only 45 degrees this morning and snow forecasted down to 5 thousand feet . My plants are 53 inches tall already .
