Since he apparently has not been on in a month. You can look in his last grow log. He had the problem. It was suggested that he keep his temperatures above 75 F IIRC @Calyxander concurred. He tried it with large success…haven’t seen him post about it but haven’t really been ‘stalking’ him either
This is my third experience with PM.
Just when I thought I was in control…boom. lol
I’m aware of just about every method. I dicked around plenty in the past thinking I could solve it…
LABS was a new one I learned about from @beacher.
It’s partly what I get for growing in an uninsulated sub-par environment.
Attempting to control horrible temp and rh swings.
Lights just turned on…

Beginning of week 8
That right front headbanger is the only plant still in an Octopup.
All others top feed because I muffed up when starting them in their Octos
PM has not been a huge problem for me growing in the garage. The last two grows week 7 the mites tried to move in both times. Batch 2 had it bad at one point. It happened all over night. I just used neem oil to kick them to the curb. Week 7 just seems to be the special time when the visitors show up.
What about this GT , you try this too ?
@Gravitys-Rainbow , you will more than likely have them on next grow too as neam I don’t think is super effective like spinosad etc , your knocking them back but not killing them all
I agree 100% with your statement. It was so close to chop time I didnt want to put anything non-organic on them. I might be moving so a metal building might be in my future and a new location. If not then going to bomb the garage before the next grow. I think I am going to check into the bug killer @GramTorino posted above.
@George , had great success with a portable hand held steam cleaner , he used this to clean everything after the grow , must have boiled them , sounds fun and quite similar action to a flame thrower lol … kind of , @Gravitys-Rainbow , if your not keen on bombing the garage
@Gravitys-Rainbow I agree you need to do a deep clean and use [quote=“ifish, post:646, topic:60043”]
spinosad

It really works It was the only thing that did , bro it kill off the thrips during the thrip wars of 2000 ( story for another day )
@GramTorino don’t give up on them you can do it , my west coast brother from another mother !
It a challenge no more it’s what we do
If it was easy anyone could do it bro
Weed is never easy

Same here. I hate it when the sun just doesn’t come up like it should. We all know it gets better. We are to hard on ourselves. Looks great.
Kijiji alert just made!!!
Looks like the sun is up, lol happy growing
Greetings @GramTorino, Just finished this thread top to bottom and I wonder if you’d care to summarize your OctoPup experience? Doesn’t seem like the problems that arose were related to those pots but I’d appreciate your opinion and whether you’ll use them again. More specifically, the top-watering/wicking problems at the beginning, what would you do differently.
I just geared up for a mini-Octo grow using the same pots so any advice you can offer would be useful.
Cheers,
-Grouchy
Absolutely will be using the Octopups in the future.
I’m certain my problem was directly related to excessive wicking. My combination of coco packed net pot and too much liquid in the res when starting out.
The roots developed in the fabric pot and never, or barely dropped down into the res thru the net pot.
A few other growers here are having great success with the mini Octopots.
@SaintAliasKnife and others I can’t recall off the top
Next time, I plan to use Promix HP and pack the netpot with hydroton.
Many thanks for the quick response!
So how low should the water level be on startup? How would you do it next time? Having that air gap between the roots and the rez level water still seems amazing to me even tho I realize it is essential to the method.
@firehead, @Nagel420 & of course @Papalag should also be on the list of Octopup pioneers. (No doubt there are others, just the ones I’ve encountered.)
Exactly. Make it drop them roots.
You want 50% of your growing problems to go away??? Octopots for the win! Outside of LEDS I think the Octopots are the most amazing thing I have found thus far coming back to growing after 20 years. It takes about 7 days for the roots to get down but they do! @GramTorino is 100% right. Octopots! I usually dont get so excited about things like this but that is how much I am impressed with them.
I have 2 with coco packed 3" netcups and 2 with expanded clay filled 3" netcups. roots about the same. I started them with netcup dipped into the water ~ 3/4 of a gallon in the rez. once root hit water i kept a 1/2 in the rez. as the plant drank I let it drink almost all then refilled to the 1/2 gallon mark for a period then to the 3/4 for a period. cyclically.
next run, I’m doing 1 or 2 of the full size 6 gallon rez Octos.
When i drop the plants in the pots I fill her up! I want the soil to get wet and I want the roots to sense it and go looking for it. Once they get down I usually keep it on the second line. Once I flip to flower I go 3 lines and pump them nutes into them anytime they want it. About week 7 I started to flush I went back to 2 lines
