You can learn a lot from this site about how weather works by watching. Use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out. The UI at the bottom allows you to go back years for data. You can also forecast into the future to track possible storm system paths.

If I was the suspicious sort I’d think they added a UI (user interface) and are using the same data set (which actually would be a good thing, 
)
I set the parameters to look at the jet streams (which is about all I use it for).

The developers of Ventusky openly admit they use other peoples data sets. They made the UI and tied in multiple data sources into their app. Some other goodies to check out.
