Grow Room Journal:avmaxx:strain II:southern

Tracking my progress of the Strain I’m growing.
Its an unknown strain from the southern part of India.

This can possibly be a 80:20 mix of Kerala Gold and some foreign strain.

I’ll call it Strain II:Southern.
This is my first grow, so I’m pretty much excited.
Along with I 'm also growing another strain. Which I will journal on another post.

Here I will post the daily update of my grow. Primarily for my own reference and research.
That doesn’t limits it. Everyone 's Welcomed!

Day 1 March 20
Put for Germinating.
I have a collection of some good seeds.
This I just unintentionally dropped on a small bowl of soil.

No plans, no thoughts and no agenda.
Just out of some curiosity and some fun.

And good God.
They started popping up!

Day 5 March 25

Things started getting interesting.
This guy started getting taller and one more popped up.

Interesting!

Day 7 March 27

Now the fun gets serious.
I see four of them.
The stage is start to set …

In the background, a fresh set of seeds, the Northern, Germinating !!

Day 8 March 28

More more and more of them.

Day 9 March 29

Will the stop!!
How many did I “throw” in???

They ain’t happy there.
Too small a cup for them.
Better not to suffocate them.

So it was decided to move them to a better space.

I plan to play cheap. Being a poor man.

Got some 300 cc cellophane glasses.
The thought was easy transplant.
Not even a blade will be needed, just in case.

Their new houses.

Day 10 March 30

Transplanted them in the morning. Its been 12 hours since.
I’m back from work, rush to check them.
Thankfully they stand tall n straight.
Leaves not drooping. They all look healthy.
Let’s hope the best till morning.

Day 11 March 31

All set. All look healthy.
The growth looks slow as compared to pre transplant growth speed.
Probably the seedlings are in shock
A premature transplant.

Should pickup in 2-3 Days.

Made some improvement in the lighting.

Trying out LED and CFLs.
HPS are a bit expensive.
A 70 watt HPS with assembly would cost anything between ₹2000-2500. Plus the electricity charges.
So why not try out with LED.

In utmost urgency got myself a Philips Stellar 20watt LED bulb.
http://www.amazon.in/Philips-Stellar-Bright-20-Watt-Light/dp/B01J3CPWYY

20 watt LED 2000lm @ 6500k
For a grow area of under 3sq Ft, this should be good.

And after all, I don’t aspire for a record yield.
I just want to grow, in an economic way.
I don’t want to boast of my big bud, rather may be a small one that is “my” produce.

Comparing to a HPS, I can get equivalent lumens at half the cost.

100lm/watt with this LED!!
Lets see.

I had a CFL lying around,
So thought to put it up too.
If its around, better use it.

23watt CFL, 1350 lm @ 6500k.

And another little LED to add up.
7watts, 850lm @ 6500k

So the total comes to be Over 3000 lm.
not bad to start with.

came across 50 watts LED.
5000lm !!May be later.
₹ 1100

What kind of soil is that?

So, you’re from India? Welcome to OG!

Good luck with your first grow, I’ll watch it!

Yeah, HPS are still probably best bang for a buck.

Have you got your grow area ready? Only 3 square feets? That’s roughly 20x20 inches… that is extremely small, but 70W HPS should be OK when actively cooled…

idk man. i feel a 125w cfl would out due a 70w aircooled hps. i can pull 3ozs under a 125 no prob:)
