Growing upside down

Just asking a question from a conversation I had the other night with a buddy. We were talking about growing outdoors and the question came up about growing the plants upside down, kind of like those tomato plants??? My friend noticed all the Low Stress Training I had done and asked about growing upside down. I must admit, I’d never even considered it. Has anyone ever tried this method? Am I totally out of my mind?? Is this just crazy and never going to work??? I wonder what would be the results of just turning a plant upside down when it started to flower? Wire or something could be used to keep the plant in the pot and a free hanging system would be needed. Anyone who’s ever grown those tomato plants knows that they yeild pretty good results.
Do you guys/ girls think it would just over stress the plant?? Just a thought, I could have been REALLY high at the time… I’d like to hear any thoughts about this even if you think I should lay off the “meds” for a while. :joy:

Ok ive has this convo with a friend… but what if the lights were located under it and not above… so plants wouldnt need to fight gravity… what yall think

I seen this done on u tube it definitely didn’t turn out like how a tomato plant does cause the cola was trying to bend up towards the light maybe put the light under the whole thing like what @bigLblazed is talking about possibly doing

I got 1 I put sideways hoping the lower branches pop up but I don’t think it worked but I’m gonna leave it as it is as it’s been like that for couple weeks now lol

Try putting the light on the ground so it grows down instead of light on top making the plant wanna bend up to the light but I don’t know I’ve only grown once so don’t take a NEWBIE advice

I dont see any benefit as far as yield. I would also say it didn’t stress the plant out. It was a pita to daily water. The only reason to do it again would be to “beat” my own record. that was a 7 gallon bag. A bigger bag and a drip system would be needed.
but
It was really cool, i have monster plants in my yard and this this lil QP plant was the grow that most people would comment on.

Look at the buds! It’s kind of like LST, but not tying any branches down. Do you think it gave you more buds? I do LST with just about all of my plants to make the “popcorn” buds have some size.
My idea was to hang the plant upside down once it started to flower and see what that would give me… Maybe a dead plant? I’ll try it next year with one or two plants. In the mean time I’ll work on coming up with a system over the cold months.
Very cool, thanks for sharing your photos!

I would not say the yield was positively affected. LST is not always as important outside as it is inside.
It wont die if you flip her at flip. Cant wait to see you give it a shot.
