You are the first person to grow out any of the auto seeds I have made, that I know about.
Very cool to see! I appreciate you growing them out very much!
They look great to me!
Day 60/18/10
Res needed a fill i just gave it straight water as they can run out now, also seems some fungus gnats just went through a hatch so been taking care of them when i can and the plants will likely come down come the weekend so i can get rid of those pots.
For the autos and the reveg plant and single photo, only have a couple that actually look alright so i dunked some seeds last night and will be ripping out the lot of these.
And the younger photos are doing well.
Day 22/14/0
Didn’t get any shots of the autos reason being was running them low on water till this weekend and i was gonna chop, came across them yesterday probably an hr or so into drooping from lack of water so would of been ugly and no sense to water them just for a picture then shop them so i just started bucking the plants at that point.
As for the little ones also some neglect as the reservoirs went dry on the photos, saying the the guava 99 x orange goji’s have thrown alot of roots out into the reservoir in comparison to the other photos on the other res in the same cab.
And have some new seedlings up in some promix just to try out, unfortunately its old promix but we will see, and those old autos on the right yeah just don’t think the appreciate the wick method.
That leaves the top cab partially open but ill be doing a shuffle and have some garden plants that will be taking up residence for a couple weeks till they sprout and are big enough to throw outside.
Way to grow as usual buddy. You’ve got some mega bag appeal going on with them purple plants
Day 24/16/2
Plants still looking moopy plus likely underfed, swapping out reservoirs this morning to a higher EC so we will see what that does, trying to figure out a way forward with this wick method and my current feed.
Res water apparently was high pH as in 6.7-7.0, makes me consider the flush back i did, and how i allowed it to go into the new res fill the previous time… guess flush backs i should let drain first into the old reservoirs, before swapping in new filled ones, or at least thats my current thought.
Day 18/4
Left side looking perkier, also is the side where the roots are in the reservoir, so we will see may do a cycle over on the right side, and being photos one has the leeway to get things in order before flowering.
New pots moving along, waiting on some seedling to break soil, also have two more plants in the other cab alongside some veggies and that photo im attempting to reveg.
Day 20/6/0
Cycled over the top plants with some fresh feed and currently letting them go a bit dry with empty reservoirs and turned down the light slightly to help them. Still think this coco has gone bad somehow amongst other things going on.
And the promix plants growing and doing their thing with some new seedlings just up as well, also some garden plants being started.
Apart from the obvious ugliness they don’t look so bad. Is your plan to let them dry out and then back to business as usual?
Was just for the day, just wanted them to dry up a bit first then reintroduce water for wicking just so they wouldn’t remain saturated for too long and it would hopefully give the chance for roots to think about exploring… Or at least that was my thought on it.
Really I think I have a couple issues going on and it’s just figuring out a bit more of specifics and my plan.
Like the old coco should go, a soiless mix aka promix or potting mix could work better for wicking just container size will need to increase as roots don’t saturate as much especially when not force watering, and feed levels and occasional flush backs ideally the less the better, just finding a feed rate to coincide with that.
Or could just be overthinking it all
Well I don’t use reservoirs but now that my plants have hit some size I’ve stopped trying to avoid overwatering them in their tiny pots because they burn through the water so fast it’s no longer an issue.
But I’ve got saturation at the tip of my brain.
Yeah after they get big enough it’s more being concerned about the latter as in making sure they get enough water.
I plan to move them to 1 gallons soon but I need them to show first so I’m riding a fine line for a bit.
For what it’s worth I use Promix and I couldn’t imagine reusing it. It’s so saturated with roots by the time I’m done that it might as well be solid.
That’s typically what coco is for me, just a solid root puck, one can reuse it but it needs to be dried out alot and then sifted to remove the dried roots.
Though when I say my old coco, it’s just older unused stuff just have had good results with this last bag which was a new brand to me.
I have tubs of old root balls outside. They sit around until they break down enough to hand crumble. Then i pull out the clumps of roots and then leave it in the sun to “cook”. This I re-use with amendments for outside gardening.
Yeah maybe some time would work. I have stomped on them while fresh with both feet and got nothing out of them.
i have to tear mine apart to extract anything but once open there easier, again the drier the better and then if one can sift out the finer dust and keep the somewhat larger particles then its still usable for another cycle
Will you top these or just let them run?
Usually i don’t top if they stretch too much, typically i just flop “supercrop” the main apex which allows the sides to catch up and i can usually get stuff pretty even that way with a little light training which is just bending the odd side branch to say fill a empty space were still a good way out from that though, also the smaller pots keep the plants small in general with no forced watering so unless i up pot to bigger container i dont expect to have to do much training.
Typically only time i top is in a have to type situation, as in the plant stretched into the light.
