Growing with Mr.Sparkle in 2022 : Spring/Summer

Back left corner? It does look a bit more uniform than the others. Jurassic Park leaves throughout :open_mouth:

Yeah roots come out the bottom though I trim them if they get out of hand as some can and do reach for the res otherwise all the roots are typically contained within the pot

As for size yeah these are the smaller 400ml ish ones which can yield between 30-40g , though I prefer my bigger 900+ml or so pots and running less plants if say going for yield, the small ones they stall out size wise at three weeks or so I’m just able to run more for selection purposes other wise I’d be running the bigger ones.

@Slick1 yup back left

Day 31/20/15/5

Oldest one still seeing if the sts spraying took while i continue to spray so far not yet, also may need to up the feed a little as well you can see.

Little ones needing a water though looking drier than they are as i roughed up the surface so that it could dry out which helps stop algae growth if it were more compact.

As for the 2 starter plug plants they aren’t looking the best and there the last two of those seeds that being Strawberry short crack courtesy of Yeti, front right plant on the other cab is one as well for those who don’t know was gonna try for some seeds with it potentially, may just need to hit it with other pollen now if i get any :man_shrugging:

As for the others pulled a couple of the less ideal ones and repotted the two on the left likely the back right will go aswell and the other two will be repotted.

Also some just planted seeds in the center which may not be autos for the first time in a longtime.

Day 34/23/18/8/1

Another Saturday has come, so the flowering plant some one aka “this guy” may of realized why the STS spray wasn’t working mid week when i mixed up a new batch, normally im suppose to mix 2.5ml of each pre mixed solutions to 50ml of water to make a new batch but for whatever reason i read my own labels of what was used to make said concentrated solutions and used those numbers instead of the other labels also on said containers effectively adding only 1.26ml of STS and 0.32ml of SilverNitrate to the last batch :man_facepalming:

Anyways gonna be harder now to flip the plant now that its fully into flower, also it wasn’t doing so well due to me removing the other plants it kinda got heat and light soaked and started taking up more water than nutes caused its root zone to spike with a run off of 3.2ec and 6.6-6.7ish ph yesterday meaning likely even higher in the root zone. Its looking better today after a flush and reset and drop of feed levels.

Little ones ill be needing to handwater till some selections are made, just as i dont have another res to support the extra plants yet, just missing the containers, and the tucked away seedlings need a repot or at least one does the other is lagging and like had root damage.

Other side is doing well, reduced down to these 4 with one being a StrawberyShortCrack, also have some seedlings in the center there that are not autos… or even fems for that matter which will be destine for the third can once i find some reservoirs that will work.

The girls look good! Strawberry short crack sounds delicious :joy:

i was guessing one of the OG auto mixup plants was one though definitely could be wrong and why im running some more Of those StrawberryShortCrack’s courtesy of @Yetigrows btw

Also check the reservoirs on that side cause some things i was seeing… pH had spiked so trying a different nute for stability and lower feed rate now.

Looking good :slightly_smiling_face:

why i was guessing on this one being a SSC harvested about 2.5 weeks back

Uhm, those SSC look incredible! Well done, each of you !

Mr. S, I have 2 friends growing trizzlers and grcd. They said to thank you and therefore…

Thank you!!!

Tremendous job!

What does it smell like?

Looking at it I’m not 100% that it’s SSC.

Could also be Bubbacrack (hubbabubbahaze x white crack) (more purple than pink) or CDLC x White Crack by the orange tones…

Taste and smell will be the key.

bubbacrack is another possibility, the thing thats different with this one vs the unknown is this is definitely of shorter stature and the previous one had narrow fingered leaves that was decently distinctive.

Smell i cant define though for my curing buds its a deeper dankness not skunky with maybe a red licorice undertone to it is all i can really describe on it at the moment.

Day 36/25/20/10/3

Having some thoughts and may be the universe telling me something or just confirmation bias lol.

The oldest plant i was spraying will likely be culled in the next day or so, sure im starting to see some pollen sac formation though with how heavy its into flower its gonna take awhile and or may not even produce viable pollen at this point, the kicker the younger plant just to the left of it is checking alot more boxes than what it was, my though is one maybe the hickup and spraying issue was for a reason to allow this other plant to come forward so i can try and use something more suited, and if i get on sprayign that one right now it may still be able to drop pollen before the larger plants in the other side run out of time, and even if they do i should have pollen that i can use on other plants and or some photos which was in the works as my next steps… so yeah there is that.

The little ones also need to get on some autowaters and im planning a reshuffle in order to accomplish that, also the seedlings will need to be repotted in a couple days moved them over to this side as they were getting blocked out on the other thus the tallness of them.

Other side doing well the back right plants gonna go just as i need the space and the plant in front of it is better.

Now some things to note operation wise that some or all i haven’t mentioned and this is good for log purposes, first ive been only running at 75% light output that being 75w a side which has been getting 24k lux down low on starts and as they grow currently 35-40k lux near the tops, plants have been much happier and confirmation bias i may just been blasting them with too much light as its not like i can raise my lights height wise so as they grow and with longer 18hr days they likely were just being over driven when you start thinking about DLI and such.

Nutrient wise on the last res change out or two ive changed over to PlantProd Mj’s Bloom and CalKick and Epsom to play with vs the Jacks i was trying, first i am running it at a lower ec of 1.4 and elemental ppm than Jacks just cause of some build up issues also im fully off in the deepend as im running my own ratios of it plus addition of epsom calculator wise it ball parks it in similar elemental ppm levels to say Jack, MC, and whatever, and actually the ratio is super easy currently and actually uses less overall than say jacks making it slightly more economical though only time will tell if its suited or not. Another reason for the trial is it has some of its nitrogen in the form of ammonium now even though nitrate is “easier” for the plant to uptake im suspecting its one of the main drivers for spiking pH over time in my reservoirs where as ammonium is oppositely charged so the thought of it is that it may help counter that quick rise making that pH rise a bit slower and more stable.

Last just as of last night im starting to play with my RH just as im getting late day droop in the plants that happens 2-4hrs before lights out and it kinda coincides with RH increasing in the general surround air as temps drop outside as the sun goes down causing a spike in outside RH which im sure plays into my house inside levels also moved my sensor over to the bigger plant cabinet for better control, downside with running a bit tighter and lower RH control is it also drives down my cab temperatures so its an unstable balance as when my exhaust fan is trying to drive down RH its also subsequently taking out heat which in turn makes the dew point and general RH change as well in the process, so kinda chasing ones tail to a degree though i figure there is probably an acceptable compromise ill be able to find i just have to play around with it.

I live with this every day :+1:

yeah something i more recently considered, its either that or something else i was considering is who knows that maybe the plants were picking up on say external outdoor plant pheromones or signalling in the air and were coinciding with what was going on outside, RH makes more sense though.

Day 27/22/12/5

Reshuffle done, flopped the tops of the two GRCDS’s on the left side, the left most smaller one is the one thats now being sprayed, also increased the watering duration as it wasn’t forcing any run off as for the right side i have the majority all hooked up to auto waters now and all the plants they are still crashing late day so just said screw it and cut 2hrs off their day.

Still playing with things which will never change lol.

I found most of my plants droop near the end of their day when I have LEDs blasting them at or close to full power. I also get burnt/dry plants with pale dry crinkly leaves which often develope spotting after a few days. Raising Rh helps but not as much as simply turning the drivers down. I’m actually thinking about just buying smaller drivers in future because this keeps happening. I know how powerful LEDs are and yet I still keep cooking plants with the things. It’s starting to do my nut in. Go much over 30W/square foot and there needs to be about 3 foot of headroom. This is simply wasted energy. My advice now is forget about conventional wisdom. My last run they got far too big so most of bloom they were about 8 inches from the strips which I had turned down below half output which is around 20w per square foot. Still got around 8 ounces from the larger and maybe 4 from the smaller one :+1:

I get the same, but I just blast away and defoliate, if I keep RH higher it’s not an issue usually… It’s definitely gotten worse as I’ve struggled to keep RH up.

Im running at 75% right now and have been which works out to be about 25w from the wall a sqft “22.5-23w at the strips/sqft”, still though they were crashing 3+ hrs before lights out and my plants they start at 2ft away and just get less than that as time goes on, bit at a lost ill see how they are tonight with the reduced day length.

And yeah i blast away as well and probably too much just seems counter to “knowledge” sure higher heat and increased transpiration helps with it though i just feel like im chasing my tail at times as when i drop temps and RH they seem less receptive and show light stress easier, so makes me figure something else is out of balance.

Probably another factor is my stuck thought on g/watt and knowing more light to a degree means more bud so when i have that 1.5-2g/w thought in my head a 25% reduction in light seems like alot though i guess ive never done true controlled yield comparisons which requires clones to do so.
