That’s quite interesting. It’s a possible mutation. That being said I have seen buds grow from petioles of fan leaves in some of the Chinese strains particularly from the Yunnan region. What strain is it? It’s possible it has some mutant gentics from the parent strains. Lots of plants can have different things going on, like albino leaves where either side of the midrib on leaves is white and one side green. You can have plants displaying male traits on one side of the plant and female on the other, etc. So quite likely you’ve just come across a strange variant in the genetics. Could be nothing to worry about. Looks quite healthy. Just watch out for male flowers.

I’d say YEP that’s a mutant!
Would be interesting to see if you can clone a piece…

That’s really cool! Never seen that before in my garden. A few of my plants I’m growing right now have calyxes where the fan leaf meets the fan leaf stem.

I want to see what it does in flower. Hopefully the crazy mutation continues with buds growing crazy.

I see pistils in the second picture… that’s a lady lol
However I don’t know how the leaf stem will react to that but it’ll be cool to watch

Yeah its very strange. A part of me thinks it would be awesome to have a top at on every fan leaf stem because most of the time more tops = more bud. But I think there will be negative effects to the plant too I just don’t know what there are yet. I will take some clones soon so that I can preserve the genetics if this turns out well.

I had several like this on my last grow with Blue Dream clones. They had been severely abused though. Every single one was a hermie.

I have seen pictures like yours where a bud grows on the fan leaf itself but never where there are new nodes developing on the stems. Fingers crossed she doesn’t hermie.

I think I will try to clone a leaf.
Replied to the wrong comment lol

Thanks for the hermie pics @anon32470837 – these kinds of images are more helpful then pretty bud shots.

I believe that’s a trait of Chinese strains. Not the hermying per say but the bud at the top of the petiole. I don’t think it’s that common though.
This particular plant is quite a bushy fecker. Interested to see how buds develop.
