I find this process amazing, for those who don’t know it’s just a plants way of excreting minerals and excess sugars through specialised pores called hydrathodes i used to find it happen on the old mango strains grown outdoors, more towards the very end of finishing and particularly either early morning or late at night.
how many of you guys have noticed this, or a solid crystal on your bud when curing or trimming. Aren’t plants just amazing, especially our beloved plant of choice!
Right on brotha!
You’ve shared these pics before, correct?
Btw…whys this a wiki?![]()
![]()
No i haven’t shared then before but i think i must have messed up! Doh this is definitely not meant to be a wiki i didn’t even know how to do that bugger. I better delete i think
What causes this? I’ve read high VPD/High water content media?
Did you take those pics w/ a cell phone?? They’re so sharp.
Def edit your post so others can’t ![]()
Ayy I’ve got a photo of a Green Crack Auto that pushed out some -
I ended up tasting it, was like a honey suckle, very minor flavor.
GREAT shots of it ![]()
@Organical great example mate
its such an interesting feature found in alot of plants but in cannabis flowers i find it it really interesting, at first i had no idea what it was, i assumed it was olant sugar’s as it was quite sweet and i found that the citrus type strains semned to produce more of it.
Hey bro I saw that on a GSC auto, it was my first grow and the gooey glob was bubbling very slowly, the led fixtutre was way too close!
Thats interesting! I dont know if having the light tpo close causes it as all plants do it but interesting nonetheless! I used ti see it a bit outdoor, especially growing the mango lines , we learn something new everyday hey, i love these plants. Overgrow the world!
You see it a something positive?
It tells you do something wrong.
Water pressure in the plant, called turgor, basically comes from two sources: the roots pushing and the leaves pulling. Sometimes when the leaves stop pulling but the roots keep pushing.
Since the leaves aren’t pulling anymore, that means the stomata are probably closed, so that pressure has no way to be released, except the Hydathodes. They are much like big stretchy stomata that can not close up. When leaves transpire, its pretty much water.
The hydathodes however will exude sap, much thicker than water. That sap contains nutrients etc. If the concentration is high enough, and it dries out fast enough, you will see side tip burns, as the hydathodes are generally located at the end of the side tips.
If you are lucky the big fat cola starts bud rot. I have seen this many times at the ‘master growers’ steering plants but dont understand what they are doing.
Bud rot we need to lower rh… bla bla no gutation is not something you can see as a positive thing.
Nice had this on a Why U Gelly mom I seeded up
Lick it! Lick it!
Remember guys, if the blob is golden its guttation, if its clear its probably anal seretions
Guttation is not beneficial, its related to osmotic pressure and sign of a nutrient imbalance.
