Hey OG, excited to kick off my first outdoor season with some sweet options. Starting a bit late this season due to life circumstances, but starting nonetheless. Goal is a successful , start-to-finish 3-plant outdoor grow.
Picked fems for my first outdoor as time restrictions didn’t allow me to pick through regs, hopefully going to try for some regs outdoor next year. Fingers crossed!
Selected strains from the stash are x2 Unicorn Island [JP & @BigMike55] and x1 Cannarado Metronome.
Unicorn Island#2 popped an inch long taproot in under 24 hours, #1 soon after. 7hrs being in soil, #2 already sprouted about a half inch through. Super vigorous.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am also popping a Hold My Beer reg. Split a seed via artist’s pen and gravity. Also popped its taproot soon after both Unicorn Islands.
Still waiting on that Metronome to pop. Switched out the original germinating paper towel for one soaked with a diluted 3% hydrogen peroxide/water mixture [I went for tsp per liter?]
seedling and soon-to-be-seenlings hahahah
In the process of buying pots for outdoors. Think I’ve got a prime spot for sun picked out. While I would love to eventually have an in-ground raised bed, I’m not confident in my outdoor abilities enough yet. Want to get a bit more experience under my belt before trying for a bigger project.
Not only did I accidentally snap the taproot off HMB, but the Metronome has not popped yet , after 8 days.
So , I added another Metronome seed & put both in a shotglass . It’s been over a week, I’m not sure if the Metronome #1 was a dud or what… we’ll see about Metronome #2.
Metronome #1 and #2 did not pop. Thinking I’m going to try for one more Metronome seed and if that’s a dud, I’ll start popping some BBD for an indoor grow this year. Seems OG’s raving about blueberry so might as well hop on the train to see what it’s all about hahah
Regardless, just excited to jump back into the photoperiod game.
Unicorn Islands are getting big. Bit unhappy since they’re outgrowing their solo cups, so made sure to give a good dose of Cali-Magic to set em good. Bought more Promix HP, should be here the day before the summer solstice so I can stick em out there. I mixed up the special soil sauce for them today. Trying blood meal, a touch of bone meal, calcium from oyster shell, potassium sulfate, EWC, and will amend with more bone meal few weeks before flower after they’re in final pot. Beautiful day out, nice weather for once in Upstate…
Currently in the tent:
2x Unicorn Islands [fems]
x2 Blueberry Diesel [regs] @anonymous4289@MissinBissin - just popped
x1 Shiva Skunk x Forum Cookies [fem] - just popped
BBD probably staying inside over the summer. Perhaps SS x FC might go outside, not too sure yet. Did buy an extra pot just in case.
Ended up needing to chop ‘Smellosphere’ #2 at day 80 cuz I spotted a teeny teeny bit of budrot on one of the topmost buds. Checked all the rest of the buds & they seemed all good so just tossed the one.
‘Smellosphere’#1 smelling deliciously sweet and stinky at just over 2 weeks of cure.
pics tomorrow morning!
Good morning Mo, nice to see you round here to see what I’m cooking!
Both Unicorn Islands , one slightly more upset than the other about being stuck in solo cups still ! Hahah , gonna stick em outside soon as I get that promix.
But upper growth is happier so I’m ok with em for now.
I used to ride Quarter horses (pleasure and team penning).
After the accident I went to Foxtrotters because of my back injury.
This filly is the last one I owned. She was a beauty.
I miss having them around but got where I couldn’t ride them enough to keep them fit. It was an expense we couldn’t afford because I was too banged up and not working.
Quarter horses always a classic. That slow, easygoing pleasure movement is beautiful.
Wow, she has a beautiful cream Palomino color. What a sweetie. Love to watch team penning at rodeos, the thrill is intense! How long did u do team penning?
Unfortunately they are definitely an expense. Especially nowadays with all this guy’s supplements hah. This one is a 23 y/o thoroughbred. Eats up half my paycheck but I hand it over willingly. Love him to pieces. Showed him few times locally since I got him when he was 16. Only ever earned $400 on the track and his highest placement was 7th according to his records.
Thoroughbreds are not easy keepers to begin with. Keeping weight on them and still exercise enough to keep proper muscle tone up. A senior would most assuredly be a large expense.
It ain’t always about the money though.
There’s something about the outside of a horse that’s good for the inside of a man.
Yeah, it took a while to find a good feeding regimen for him forsure. And he’s got classic crappy Thoroughbred skin, so a few skin and coat supplements to boot too hahah.
Forsure. Too many horsepeople nowadays forget this. Say it louder for those in the back!!
Been looking into alternative peat options and I think I’ve got a choice made. Same acidity as peat, but it’s redwood. so will just need to add in perlite+vermiculite , as well as grab some more Bigfoot myco.
Excited to try my first grow outdoors. Will need to grab some chicken wire to keep the pests out.
It’s a pleasure to finally share these 9-fingered beauties!
Unicorn Island #1 and #2
Strong , vigorous , and keeps growing like a weed lol! About ~2in per day.
Gonna be getting more hardware cloth so I can expand it to the outside rims of the pots so they can fan out.
Outdoor specs
-Bigass pots (thick plastic walls)
-Promix w/ Dr Earth Pot of Gold w/ a mixture of blood meal, potassium sulfate, oyster shell, and will be amending with bone meal in late late veg.
-Giant metal halide bulb in the sky
-Burlap (for wisdom) to keep the dang gophers out, and water retention , and other pests
-Hardware cloth (for the soul) to keep out leaf nibblers . Need to get more so the deer don’t chop off #1’s top
@BigMike55 so vigorous and growing up beautifully !
