That’s my first grow with LED.
I am in the 6th and 7th of what will certainly be a 8 week finisher.
So after what i read on LEDs : cranking up the PPFDs to 1200 and then down the last week or so, i decided to lower down my 600+ LED to have 1200 in the center of the tent, measured with Photone.
It has been one week and no signs of light stress so far (bleaching) or temp stress (curling).
Then i’ll go 800 (i have to read back the charts) and flushing last week this time, or maybe just + 0.5 bloom, we will see.
Your plants are in very nice shape mate, very well nourished, congrats.
I am glad for you you have fun taking care of this special Haze ;))))
Did you put those rockwoll slabs at the beginning, in crates ?
Hello @alcid nice of you to stop by. So almost finished your first led grow, well congrats and i hope you have a good harvest!
The plants from the picture above are growing in coco but yes i like to put rock-wool slabs in crates and remove all the plastic. In an eb and flow grow placing rock wool directly on the floor can cause bad saturation of the medium with lots of dry spots.
Merry Christmas friends, i commenced another grow on rock wool. The Strain is Super Orange Glue… A clone only beloved hard hitter that competes with pgr weed. Open up the slabs, cut them in thirds and put one clone IN each part. When watering from beneath this is the way to go experience taught me.
The S.O.G. clones are under cobs, i don’t know how many watts exact but approximately about 300 watts. I used to use Photone and measure with my one plus phone until it fell out of my hands and broke. My new second hand Samsung does not support the app unfortunately so i am back to the guessing game. Well, i do use a watt meter, but the light intensity is what is of interest, specially in this fase.
I am not hanging the lamp as close to the canopy like i used to again. I did that to benefit as much as possible from the light intensity since electricity is extremely expensive in my country. But i am sick and tired of the light burns it resulted in. The many buds i had to toss because of it probably cost me more than i saved on electricity anyway. So i take my chances with a change and will hang them higher this time plus increase the wattage to compensate for the extra height.
I gave the cuts a lickle bit too much light and stunned them, so sorry ladies it won’t happen again i promise! It is mainly due to the fact i could not use photone for a bit. But now i can again and i dimmed the light yesterday to 300ppfd or so.
It seems the dames are prepared to forgive me for stunning them! Lucky me! Too bad they can’t make up for the lost time… Just kidding, that would be aahsniff sniff push it, p-push it real good!
Hey Hamme,
WOW what a great thread! I started early this morning, right off the bat I started seeing so many 9’s left hanging, so I fixed those for ya. LOL.
What a great ride to read, honestly.
I’ve been running a perpetual for a few years now, and just love it.
Yeah, due to blending my own medium up from basic single parts, blocks of coco coir, hydrating coco husks, and recently, began fortifying them with Calcium, before use, adds some work, BUT saves me from the expensive pre-blended mediums.
Once I bought like 3 bales a year of pro mix, now 1 every other year of Sunshine Mix #4, and dropped the perlite altogether.
Mostly due to being able to re-run my medium cycle after cycle, with zero issues.
Yeah it can be a bitch when remineralization between cycles, as I dump out 70-80 gallons of it, add the goodies, hoe it around a while, then shovel it back into the totes I store it in.
Enough babble about my way. Thanks for the thread, I really enjoyed reading it!!

PS, I totally get the cop thing, I live with in 2 miles of a big copshop, they pass by me, a dozen times a day, I give them a wave as they go by, since I’m just some poor old fuck, dithering around outdoors, living life. 24 years I’ve watched go by, and every single time, I wonder, does the Hamme R fall this time? LOL!
It is a pleasure Webeblzr, knowing that you have enjoyed reading though my thread! I dropped the perlite too and like to re use my mediums as often as possible. I keep using it until a crop gets infected, then after the run i toss the medium. After battling with pests a lot i came to the conclusion that starting over fresh is the only way to keep ahead of them.
Cops can be a pain in the ass, but like female cop once told me, long as there is nothing to see and nothing smells funny, there is no reason for the cops to come. It’s really very simple, keep the growing to ourselves (and overgrow) and long as the cops smell nothing they will suspect nothing. Smell no evil, see no evil!
Thanks for reading my entire topic and for fixing the hanging 9’s!
To summarize, I can say that the grow went well and what i mainly had to do was making sure to refill the tank in time. Except for the light burns that were terrible this time, mainly because Hamme Honey one stayed so short and i wanted all plants to get enough light, causing to severely burn Hamme Honey two. One of the three totally became a mongol.
For a few years I was under the impression that having the light close to the canopy would save electricity, while still achieving the same results as when hanging the lamp higher and making it brighter. Taking advantage of the light pressure and the full spectrum of the leds by having it close to the canopy. Not so bright is that I knew about wall reflection but underestimated it. Well, the yields were never bad and the weed was good so i figured this is my route. But burning Hamme Honey II this bad caused me to say: time for a change.
It is ironic that i had to burn a strain named after myself before i did it, but the ends justify the means! And in my defense, i’ve been growing with HPS for a long time before i switched to led, where it was mandatory to keep the light close to the crops.
Thank You Hamme!! I strive to grow plants like yours, just not there yet.
My outdoor raised bed veggy gardens, get’s to eat my spent growing medium.
All the best to ya!!
