Hello…I’ve got a WW auto-fem that I’m pretty sure is ready to be harvested. It’s starting to stink up my whole house. I got a 6" inline duct fan and rigged up a coffee can, drilled hundreds of holes into it, and put activated carbon pellets in it, but not much air is getting through the coffee can. I need to harvest it soon and with as little smell as possible. Any ideas?

post pictures i’m sure someone here will be able to help you … the 7th icon when you are typing is where you click to upload pic’s looks like a bar with a up arrow

She smells like fruity pine cones…so amazing. The last thing I want to do is ruin it, but I can’t let it dry out by hanging it out in the open of my closet. Thought about cutting branches into 5" segments, putting them into jars and putting damprid in a shot glass in there with it. Any thoughts please?

looks like a great plant, good job! The carbon filter may not be working because you need an airtight exhausted space, too much air is probably leaking out. I use a grow tent to make a tightly sealed, exhausted space.

No easy way to avoid the odor, it will massively decrease within a day or two of harvesting though. Just cut the plant down one branch at a time and remove anything (leaves) that doesn’t have trichomes on it. Keep the fan blowing and hang the branches up to dry out, should take about a week before the buds go into a jar.

The sealed jar idea sounds bad, you need air movement, why can’t you just hang them where the plant is now? The smell won’t get any worse, it will start to decrease within a few hours of harvesting. maybe you can burn some incense or use something else to mask the odor for a couple days? Maybe crack a window, that will help.

I guess I could try it…it just started to smell and I’m scared of it getting extremely worse when I start to hang it.

it won’t get worse, within a few hours the plant tissue will stop transpiring and the odor will start to go down.

Thank you so much for responding. What if I just aim the fan at the mesh bag of carbon pellets…think that would help? My fan isn’t very strong I guess…tried saving money and it was a bad idea

the coffee can is not a bad idea. maybe there is too much carbon?

some fans suck, and some fans blow better.

can you try to scrub the air? pull the air through the can and out the fan.

we need to see a picture in the regular white light. but looks like you have a little while to go.

You got a few weeks to go. Whatever you are spraying on the plant stop. You are burning your leaves wherever the liquid is pooling looks like. Maybe backoff the nutes a bit too.

Yeah…that’s the thing…I’ve never sprayed anything on the leaves. I used a little cal-mag around week 8, used it again about a week later and they started doing that. I have used nothing but ph’d water ever since, but idk what else to do

I would back off or stop feeding if in soil. I don’t know what is wrong but you probably have enough food to last the rest of the grow and hopefully balance out the plant. Water with a bit of humic would probably be perfect the rest of the grow. Is that foil on the wall? I wonder if the crinkled reflective material is burning your leaves? We got some work to do.

I’m using ffof…what is humic? It is foil…I’m using an old home stereo cabinet because I had very little cash to invest into this little venture It first popped outta the soil on August 8th, so I figured it was close to harvest anyways…plus the trichomes are turning

I don’t grow auto’s so i don’t know how long they take but that bud is immature. Smooth out the foil the best you can to get rid of any hot spots that can burn the plant. Humic is a chealater and a good micro nutrient additive. If you don’t have any just use RO water with a tiny amount of cal-mag to balance the ppm of the water. (Too low of ppm is not good for the soil)
I am guessing you have two weeks of flower left but we have some good people on here that grow auto’s regularly and can help better than me. Feeding auto’s is a bit different also, i believe they use less nutes but again i am assuming off memory.

this video shows how to make a good DIY carbon filter. i like the idea of using an activated carbon prefilter too.

Exactly. There is slight tip burn, they are overfed…
