Hash Making Revisited

pull the beans after running them in the wash?

link to bean separator thread?

You only need enough ice to last the entire process. If it’s cold enough, I just use a couple of trays. If you can maintain a water temps of just above freezing you probably don’t need ice.
Freeze the flower in the deep freeze.
Pick out the seeds after OR pick out the seeds and then make hash. I’ve done both.

Sorry I clearly am sleep deprived. What do you mean here?

There are seeds in the buds, so you can either pick them out before, or after you make the hash. I haven’t noticed a difference in the end result.

End result meaning the hash quality or viability of the seeds?

Both the viability and the hash itself. Later on the seeds sprout from the bubble waste in the garden!

If the buds are frozen, they break up easy and then the beans can be removed.

Lol you have like 4 threads with thousands of posts in each. Not sure where to look is all. Is it the one you hook up to a dryvac?

I found the pictures. What you do is you drop the ground up bud from about 8 to 10 inches above the board the bud sticks to the board and the beans bounce and roll down. It is all done by gravity. Then I use that putty knife to collect up the bud on the board and do another drop with it to make sure no beans are stuck in there. I will do this a couple of times, until all the beans are removed.

Interesting concept. I definitely do not have the space for such a set-up.

I think I’ll just hand sort some before and if motivated sift through the washed flower for some after.

Thanks @THCeed @JoeCrowe

@JoeCrowe PS - I’ll make sure to get a lot of ice. I know I’ll do more runs then some top grade bubble makers here. Not name any one in particular…

A small cardboard box will do the same thing it will just take a little longer. You could do this with as much room as sitting on the toilet LOL

usually lots of the seeds will float to the top and you can pick them off.

That’s for sure. All the beans that float are definitely the keepers.

And here I always thought the sinkers were the keepers.

I actually use the hash yield as my indicator for keepers. 2% from fresh buds is the cutoff, but nowadays 3% is more like it. 3% yield by weight of 90 micron and up.

That is totally correct, after you soak them. If you soak your beans, any that sink right away are no good. The next day, when you take them out of the water, any that are still floating are no good.

You must try the Purple Paralyzed Freak. I would love to hear your opinion of that.

I’ll definitely do it after I get rid of this last batch of mothers. I’ll probably start a new pheno hunt of a couple different strains. Purple freak and OGK. I’ll insert a random one as well, selected by the computer. It’s all about juggling time, space and productivity.

Did I send you some already?
Some of them have been described by a lot of members as a very berry flavor and smell to it. It has been described a couple of times, that it’s like a bowl of Skittles.
