Looks good @Palindrome ! The word “Hash” is used loosely today and covers many forms of extracts. Hash is the “H” in BHO (Butane Hash Oil). Mechanically separated hash such as dry sift is the only kind of hash that uses no additional solvents. Even traditional Hashish uses water h20 which is a solvent. I say additional solvents because technically all hash even dry sift contain concentrated terpenes which are solvents.
We should educate, not dummb down stuff.
Hashish have thousinds of years tradition, where solevent extracts basicly have none. Next to 3000+ years tradition from asia and middle east.
It’s not cos I am hating on solvent extracts, but once you desolve the trichomes. The end result is no longer hashish.
Water is a non organic solvent, it dont work for olis, like terps and cannabinoids.
In chemestry water is and is not an solvent, it desolves salts/minerals and metal.
So extracts made with organic solvents, is not hash no matter how many youngsters call it by the wrong name.
Read more, history is cool.
A good read for all who love hashish, or just wanna learn more of where it all come from.
The big book of hashish - the history of hash
And @5o5love there are many forms of hash, not just dry sift. Handrub being one of my favorite hashish, from manala made by some old guru.
If you get the chance to travel, try the world of hashish. It’s an awesome vacation, I have been there for 25+ years.
What about rosin? Rosin pressed from hash? There are many different forms of extract on the market today but just because one has been around longer doesn’t mean the other one isn’t “hash” because it has insoluble non psychoactive things like pieces of leaf and cystolith hairs filtered out to make a more pure product. I personally prefer me some dry sift over some shatter but I also use the term hash loosely, not because I’m not educated on the subject either. At what purity does “bubble hash” become not hash? because the purer it gets, the more it starts to look like “oil”. You can even dab it.
I love hand rubbed charas but i’ve not smoked any in years, rare as hens teeth here nowadays. I make little bits of finger hash and pretend instead but it’s just not the same, not even close
Technically, hash is the derived resin heads. Whether done with the assistance of water or not. Oil is when we dissolve, or melt the outer waxy membranes.
That being said, I’ve been known to call oil hash and vice versa.
Some hash gifted by a good friend. It’s of old trim from last year and it’s a few cultivars blended together but it is some killer smoke. He’s throwing a trim run in the washer for me as I’m typing this. Full set of Bugatti bags and Avanti washer are putting in the work for these runs. The 149u-90u is some 2* the 89u-40u is a solid 3* though.
