I’m still active in the wider community, I just never visit here any more. I am co-host of the Variables Podcast on Friday nights with Pedro and Fregrowli. It’s a hash-centric podcast and we’ve had some of the top makers in the industry on to chat. Available on Twitch, YT, X, and all podcast platforms.
My hash room has undergone a complete transformation over the past few years.
We’re now running a 7-stage RODI system feeding a 175g reservoir. The reservoir runs a jet pump into sanitary hoses, feeding our spray system as well as a recirculation loop through a UV sterilizing lamp.
We wash in a 25 gallon Pure Pressure stainless wash vessel that is wrapped in a custom glycol chiller loop, allowing 100% iceless washes. The photo is a bit old and shows the 5 gallon sieve bags, but we’ve upgraded to 20 gallon Rosin Evolution bags.
The chiller maintains 31F in the wash and keeps the reservoir at 34F. It also runs a small radiator that chills a 3’ section of our stainless work area, allowing us to maintain a warmer room w/o having the hash melt in the tray while we’re collecting.
We’ve also made some modifications to our freeze dryer.
The first is a sanitary valve allowing air to be cleaned before it is passed back into the freeze dryer - preventing dust and other crap from being sucked back up and onto the hash.
Next we also replaced the vacuum hose between the pump and freeze dryer with tri-clamp fittings and a stainless braided hose. This stronger hose allows us to achieve vacuum much faster.
We also upgraded the press to the LT3 controller, which is hooked to the PC in the control center. This allows me to have real-time platen pressure calculated and makes achieving true 6* that much more repeatable.
Cheers all!
