Have to move some plants

Exactly.
Step one; hold the plant steady with the roots hanging loose into the pot, and put in one handful of soil (or coco).
Step two; tap the side of the pot gently to settle it.
Step three; start back at step one until done.

I have a rogue tomato plant that’s effectively in an impromptu hydro. I’ll transplant it now and edit this post with a couple pictures.







@WMoon518 This plant was growing in the side of a driveway and was removed from the soil, and put into the rocks without issue. If she gets stressed from the move she will probably abort her flowers.
