Hazeman White Grapes - Second flowering round with clones

Day 4 of drying, everything looking good. Tiny buds this run but high quality.

Man plants look great or looked great I’ll say. Beautiful colors to em. Only thing is they do look to be Lil bit of trim work but that’s great bonus of hash there.

Yeah one of the key lessons this run is that some strains produce more leaf than bud at a certain point of topping/training…too many nodes this time around means too many leaves and kinda larfy buds TBH. Last time it was a lot fewer main branches and the bud quality was way better

Wanted to take some time to put down some thoughts about this grow now that it’s all over but the trimming. Since I didn’t keep any cuts of either of these plants, this is mostly just for future consideration when growing a hybrid such as White Grapes.

Veg
This grow, compared to last, had a much slower and less vigorous look because I think I was a bit more heavy handed early on in the process. I also did not let the plant grow very far upwards vertically before beginning lateral training. That had the result of sending lots of side branches upwards which filled the canopy. Once the roots took hold, both plants seemed to fill out much more quickly, but the early days I probably beat the clones up far too much and the result on the finished product may be that there wasn’t enough of a skeleton underneath the flowers to create really solid dense nugs.

Flower
I did not deleaf enough and the result now is a movie theater’s worth of popcorn, especially on the left plant which had more leaves per flower cluster than the right plant which definitely is more conducive to trimming.

I did a big strip right before flower, and then another mid-stretch, but should have been better about getting in there and really clearing out the middle part of the canopy where the buds ended up looking like garbage.

Overall, I think I grew too-large of plants here and this grow has actually confirmed for me that there are some major drawbacks to a scrog approach and not being able to pull smaller plants out of the tent due to trellising. Next run will be more plants, smaller, no trellis.

Either way, excited to have some really enjoyable smoke, I know this stuff is fun to puff on, and the top tier buds are as good as anything I’ve ever grown, so proud of those for sure.
