Hey OG,
Been lurking awhile and thought Id ask for some guidance. Ive been growing outdoors a few seasons with varying degrees of success. Ive grown a few bats and now I seem to have a problem with the opposite. Plants that Ive grown indoors before like GG4 for example produced loose single calyx type buds and hasnt started off like usual with shitloads of stigma. Im running a headband in the same spot as the GG4 this run and am getting the same result in spite of freshly fertilizing its hole with Coots Mix nutes from KISS. In the past, this blend has worked well and did produce bats on different cuts. This last run seems to have produced little heads of bud cabbage covered in trichs instead of nugs on several different (most) plants. Looking for any insights. 2 that do seem to be forming closer to normal size nugs are King Louis and Sour Best Shit Ever (SBSE). I suspect too much nitrogren through flower as well as something else, like P or K availability. The planters are full with Coots soil mix (1/3 peat, aeration, compost) with added lime and gypsum and the Coots Mix Nutes. Thanks in advance!
Do you know which headband specifically it is? Some HB stuff can be real finicky. Wheras GG4 for example tends to be able to take a lot more abuse
Its the Bloomington. First time running her outdoors and know this isnt right.
If Im correct, its the Sour OG version of HB, which would make sense why its not doign well for you. Has there been any hotter days? Just a few hot days will ruin a run of sour dominant stuff IME
Luckily the hottest its been is 80 the whole run and into the 40s at night. Soil temps around 78.
I’m not an outdoor guy but rarely see people do well with Headband outdoors… I think the strain prefers warmer climates and sounds like your dipping quite low on the overnight lows… They do not look over fed no burnt tips curling ect in the pic. Along with other strains moving along more regularly lends to the low temp as possibly greatly slowing down the growth production. But I’m not an outdoor guy so not sure how low you guys go before problems arise. These numbers would be absurdly low for indoor numbers… Cheers !!!
Just a thought.
But, could it be a nutrient thing leading to airy buds? I know nitrogen toxicity in flower can do something similar.
Could it have been pollinated? ![]()
Yes, for sure. I do suspect too much nitrogen.
As a matter fact, yes, they were pollinated.
