Help with 700 watt led floraflex light

bought this lite llast year, used it for 16 days until my plants were nearly dead!they just started drooping and turning dark. Major deficiencies ss well.
I took it out and replaced it with a 600 watt hps and within 2 weeks they were 100% healthy again.
I paid like $650 for the light and i hear people having much success with these lughts, but i didnt see those results.
Can someone with A LOT of led experience tell me what happened and how to fix it so i can use this light?
I grow organic in 22 gallon pots.feed with gaia green and teas every 4th watering.
Any ideas?
And no offense, but please only give advice if you are sure about it.
Thank you

Hard to explain, they were close to death and kind of greyish instead of green…drooping almost like they were in dry pots…they just looked sad

I had it at 100%,but after seeing the plants first signs of stress i asked at icmag and they said to turn it down,so i put it to 50% no sign of health.

Whats your set up?

How far did you have it from the plant at 100% ?

Did you feed the same before and after the light change?

Do you have pictures it would help us to see the leafs?

I start my seedlings at around 400ppfd and let them grow until theyhit about 1000ppfd and then I start raising my light. I didn’t know anything about ppfd back then but that’s what I did with my HPS too.

I can’t play the how far from the lights at what dimming level game. It takes the fun out of it.

The light was about 18" from the plants.i fed the exact same when i went back to hps.i think it was the red spectrum, but thats a guess

Ill try it again, someone told me its better during flower cause the plants are using so much light,
Ill start at 2 feet away at 25%,if thats ok the next week ill go to 50% and so on… .if that works ill start slowly moving the light down

So when you go to flower yyou move the light farther awzy?
I appreciate the help,i will probably pick your brain a fewtimes in the next months if thats ok.this way i can be exact and take pics.im going off memory from that grow and im a bit of a stoner so my minds not as “crisp” as it used to be…lol

Yeah leds pound hard on the plants so when i go to 100% from 50% i go up a bit more to not stress and to let them breathe a little also you can adjust the light by eye when you feel its to much move it up a little or if not enough move her down some you have a smart phone?

If so download this and it will give you a fairly good reading of your light

Good man

700 watts at 18 inches is extreme. It can probably work fine if the plants are flowering and you have everything dialed in.

I think others have already pointed that out, but I’m chiming in because I have made the mistake of blasting a plant with light all at once and watched something similar happen.

The plant was younger, and I switched in a new LED I wasn’t familiar with.

Next time I opened the tent the plant was crumpled. Not just droopy, but lying flat.

It did eventually recover, but was so stunted I ended up starting over.

I think of light like exercise for a plant. If it has water and proper nutrition, and is already in good shape etc. then it’s beneficial and they grow. If it’s too much, they get exhausted.

LEDs are much trickier this way than HPS/MH in my experience.
