HGNW Medical Strains Preservations: Dr. Who, Sonic Screwdriver, Tardis, Quantum Kush

In the early 2010’s, Homegrown Natural Wonders released several beloved medicinal strains under the TGA umbrella. Breeder Odie Diesel used a legendary Timewreck father (a cross of Subcool’s Bloodwreck and Vortex, which has quite an origin story in itself) to create strains that brought out a smorgasbord of cannabinoids, along with a nice helping of THC.

@Weednerd.Anthony, @BasementGardens, and myself, @DietPeps, each have standout memories of what these strains did for us back in those days…

So, we dug deep in the vault…

And contacted the original breeder for his blessing…

Now, I’m excited to announce that Dr. Who, Sonic Screwdriver, and Tardis are being preserved for the future, grown by @Weednerd.Anthony, @BasementGardens, and @DietPeps! And Quantum Kush, Frost Boss, and The Eleven might be added to the lineup, too! All the grows should be underway within a week, and @BasementGardens is already off and running with the screwdriver.

Shout out to @Weednerd.Anthony for getting the green light on Dr Who, Sonic Screwdriver, Tardis, and Quantum directly from HGNW.

These will be grown out from 5-packs, so they may not include all the diversity of the lines, but we’re doing what we can… and having fun while we do it!

From Seedfinder:

Tardis

Homegrown Natural Wonders Description

TARDIS is a mid-level THC strain with a well-rounded mix of cannabinoids, many of which research indicates have tumor fighting properties. This strain has a complex, satisfying taste and aroma built on a terpene profile seemingly designed to keep anxiety and pain at bay while still encouraging productivity. Used properly, TARDIS could be just the thing to help you keep track of everything that needs doing and, at the same time, stay calm and focused enough while you do it to get it all done, one thing at a time.

The energetic Sativa nature in the lineage of TARDIS is nicely toned down by the effects of some of the lesser-known cannabinoids this strain consistently has in its makeup. CBC has powerful pain- reducing and anti-inflammatory properties, and some research indicates that it is several times more effective at moderating stress and anxiety than CBD. CBG is likewise anti-inflammatory, as well as an antidepressant that promotes brain cell and bone growth, and has promising tumor-inhibiting properties. Finally, THCV is great at blocking and reducing panic attacks and tremors, and research indicates it helps reduce brain lesions and stimulate bone growth. Some of the terpenoids that contribute to TARDIS’s distinctive aroma are also great for helping to relax and avoid anxiety, including beta-myrcene, caryophyllene, limonene, linalool and azulene. Beta-myrcene, caryophyllene and limonene also appear to have cancer-fighting properties as well.

Dr Who

Homegrown Natural Wonders Description

What do you get when you cross Mad Scientist with Timewreck? Doctor Who, of course. This slightly Indica strain has a high THC content along with a strong, built-in resistance to powdery mildew. Recommended for use throughout the day, DR.WHO leaves you with a clear head and ready to take on whatever the universe has to throw at you.

Phenotypes:
There are 4 main phenotypes. All have virtually the same smell and taste and all buds tend to show some purple. The main difference between phenotypes is in the bud structure and the dominant color; buds are either fingery or round, with pale green or purple as their chief color. The purple buds are particularly impressive.

Sonic Screwdriver

Homegrown Natural Wonders Description

Wouldn’t it be nice if you always had just the tool you needed to do exactly what any given situation called for? Well, sometimes all you really need to get through a difficult situation is to relax and focus, and SONIC SCREWDRIVER is a great tool to help you do just that. This tasty strain is great for chilling out and focusing your attention where it needs to be, whether it’s a project you need to get done, your next shot in a pool game or just some show you like to watch. Plus, Mushmouth says this is the best yielding strain he’s seen so far. And it makes food taste great.

Phenotypes:
The four different phenotypes are all citrusy in smell, with one tall TIMEWRECK dominant variant, one short & stocky ORANGE CREAM SODA dominant variant, and two that fall between those two extremes.

Quantum Kush: (Sweet Irish Kush? x Timewreck)

Homegrown Natural Wonders Description

QUANTUM KUSH combines a ridiculously high amount of THC with significant CBG and THCv levels and a complex blend of terpenes for a deep, thoroughly mellow effect that lasts and lasts and lasts. This was Homegrown Natural Wonders first strain to produce flowers with a THC level over 30% and the effect is really strong but not entirely overwhelming. A nice choice for relaxing or if you have high THC needs, but do not like a pronounced THC effect.

Frost Boss:

Homegrown Natural Wonders Description

This cross worked out so well that we had trouble deciding which phenotypes to keep and develop because every one of them looked fantastic. The bulky, frosty buds from the MOB BOSS heritage come through for sure along with plenty of terpene character to add to the speedier growth of TIMEWRECK. This strain has a strongly relaxing effect that won’t necessarily put you to sleep. It’s tasty and somehow simultaneously strong and mellow, but without sapping your energy.

The Eleven:

Homegrown Natural Wonders Description

The Eleven is a marijuana plant with an open structure and thin, elongated leaves. It is a great producer of dense and resinous buds that pile up all over the plant.

The Eleven presents citrus notes and its effect is relaxing with a stimulating and clairvoyant point that allows you to concentrate on tasks that require attention. On a therapeutic level it can alleviate anxiety and depression.

This is a private preservation for the time being, to respect HGNW’s option to re-release them, but seeds will be available to patients and caregivers in need. Odie says that they still have these beans, at this point. We are preserving them, so they don’t get lost, or our access to them does not get lost.

Thank you for reading along. Take Care. :v:

Really excited to see how these turn out! Its so awesome to see the dedication to preserve medical strains that might normally be passed over by recreational smokers!

Do you guys have plans to make hybrids at some point or is this strictly preservation at the moment?

Thanks brother. It’s strictly preservation at this point, but it just might be a good jumping off point for that cbc or other cannabinoids. I don’t have any hybrids on the schedule, but it will be nice to have these in the stable to breed with!

They all sound great, the extra cannabinoids in Tardis and Quantum Kush really interest me. I hope the projects goes well for all of you!

Very excited to see this project get off the ground! I believe the more medicinal strains are becoming more rare and projects like this are going to be increasingly important as time goes on. Good work gentleman.

Wow, killer project guys. I love that it is being done to specifically help the medical patients out there in the community.

First I’m hearing of these strains so thanks for the write up and it sounds like perfect preservation candidate.

Good luck :sunglasses::metal:

Thank you, my friend. They are certainly worthy genetics!

I can’t tell you guys how stoked I am to embark on this project.

Doctor Who was actually one of the last strains that I grew indoor in so cal before I moved out here to Florida…

Pretty weird how some things go full circle like that.

Perfect accidents if you get me, I don’t really believe in coincidences too much

Me neither, brother. Me neither.

Tardis got me through some of the roughest days of my life, instantly removing pain and allowing me to shut off my racing mind.

What great project! Nice to see some dedicated medical strain preseving. The Tardis sound like it would be great for Lyme!

Sending good ~~~~~ out to @BasementGardens , @Weednerd.Anthony and @DietPeps:seedling:

Well, like everyone else has said, I am beyond stoked to read this is happening! After being diagnosed with Stage IV - Terminal Cancer and told I had less than 6 months to live, I turned to Mother Ganja as my only potential savior! Celebrating 2 years this month and getting really close to my 68th 420 Birthday Celebrations!

My major focus is on growing relief for both myself and others in pain. Just reading your ideas and descriptions it’s obvious you guys are ‘on the right track’ with your picks. I wish you all the best in the adventure and plan to try to follow along closely! If you ever want ‘testing’ done out in SE Asia just drop me a DM, I’d be over the top to do anything to assist this project and it’s high aims! (My thread is at; First Time (growing legal that is)!)

By the way, if you or anyone else working with similar aims decide to post in other threads about these topics, please tag me!

Very nice project. Thanks for the write up on these strains. I’ve never heard of them but they sound very interesting as I am just starting to look into more medicinal type strains than just high THC. Wish y’all the best with the project.

Hi everyone, let me start by thanking @DietPeps for trusting me and giving me an opportunity to run a strain I ran when I first started growing - Sonic Screwdriver. Straight seed increase here, will move to small pots soon and get to business.

Here that are - 5/5, one has been slow - it has a very white stem. I let them settle under low light for a while to see if it would catch up. It looks way better now.

I’ma bit behind @BasementGardens, but I started two of the four Tardis beans on Thursday. This morning, I can see one root, and I can see the other inside the rooter! Game on!

Been a trying week and just checking for a minute, but I wanted to say hello, and I definitely want to stay in touch as we move forward on this project. Your experience is very important.

Take care

To bigger pots go the sonic screwdriver. One plant is sub par, but not terrible.

Looking good!!

My two Tardis are up and have tappers down in the nutrient film of the hydro nursery, so they should be taking off. Will start the next two today I think. Busy poppin beans for my brother’s outdoor though.
