Who has compared chinese versus these expensive ones?

Not sure but after research and a sale I decided to purchase due to warranty and reviews.

All the expensive ones look very similar to the ā€˜chinese’

I am pretty sure there is a difference with american made vs Chinese

I think HLG makes really great lights so you can’t really go wrong with anything from them. Plus they have a good warranty if you ever need a replacement.

Been using a 600 Rspec HLG here. Use it for the whole life of the plant, in a 4x4.

It’s a great fixture. We’ve never had to crank it past 60%.

Hope you enjoy its little brother.

I have run the 650 Rspec and it’s a great light. HLG makes some wonderful equipment and stands behind their products. That said, my HLG is leaning against the wall and was replaced with a Mars Hydro FC 6500 and I love it. I prefer the bar style over the quantum board setup.

Bar style for the win. Mainly because i can run yoyos from the top of the tent with bar lights. Pretty hard to do with boards.

Congrats on the upgrade.

Recently got a HLG 95w and a Diablo 350 refurbished with a 1 and 3 yr warranty. About $1 a watt doesn’t seem too expensive and definitely competes with Mars and dem.

HLG doesn’t sell tents or filters. Just light.

Peace

These folks go crazy with the comparisons. They dont have every brand/fixture but lots of really good data for what they test.

Migro on youtube also has some interesting tests and comparisons

I’ve got 3 HLGs. The 600r-spec has been running almost nonstop for 5 years in a 4x4. Got it before Covid started. I’ve got a 600 r-spec Blackbird too. Another good one. I’m my 3x3. Mostly begging, but does great flowering. I’d replace them with the same thing if they went down.
They’re dimmable. The don’t run hot, which is a bonus. Look up @SmokinJoeMGF . He got mine for me.
What size tent is that for @Choctaw ? What were you using? Not exactly being nosey. More curious how others grow

HLG has factory seconds or refurbished… They sell out quick because they honor the full warranty with those lights. If you look at the heat from the ballast, electricity usage, and light spectrum output there’s very few manufacturers at the quality of HLG for quantum boards. The bar style lights definitely have a distinct advantage There foot print is much more evenly distributed no hotspots, etc… You pay a little more for that in a bar style light But make sure you’re not sacrificing quality of light if you choose to go bar style do your homework on the quality of spectrum you’re purchasing. The quantum boards from HLG are superior light spectrum compared to a lot of bar style LEDs make sure you understand the differences of light spectrum you will get In the various products. As far as I know, HLG is leading the cause on the FR red lighting… Cheers !!!

Edit- I have 4 260 Fr Red HLG and 2 260 B spec HLG along with the Phlizon 420 bar style full spec that’s a great light for full spec at the price but it’s not FR red …

Hey @BTYGMO . I’ve seen those refurbished lights. That sounds like a nice set up you have. You have a designated veg tent for those B specs?

Yes Sir lol… I separate so I run 2 separate Veg. I run a lot of different sealed environments because I take a lot of outside clones in… To protect myself I separate things accordingly. I run three flower chambers that are all separated two veg that are all separated, and a multi layered clone also separated. This way, I only have one problem at a time lol Cheers @crownpoodle !!!

I ordered the 325 Max during HLG’s Black Friday sale. USPS turned what should’ve been a couple day ship into 3 weeks. HLG customer support was nothing short of awesome through the whole ordeal!
I have the rSpec 260 as well, both have performed exceptionally well for me.

That sounds really nice. I’ve got a 4x4, a 3x3, and a 2x2. At one point I considered turning the 2x2 on its side for clones and starts. Now I’m thinking of getting a 5x5. Not to grow more, but for more room. Better access.
I watched a real good grower struggle bringing in clones/cuts from outside. Unfortunately he had PM come in on something. I believe he does a sulpher dunk now.

The clone game is a little more risky … You never know how they treated them or what they treated them with before you get them… to be safe, you almost have to take them in untreated to avoid adverse reactions to IPM . Then treat once you have new growth to treat. Then to be safe, keep them separate in veg to avoid contaminating any mother’s. I like to get two rounds of IPM in and multiple visual inspections before I consider it safe. It’s more than two weeks in my book before they’re considered safe… Cheers @crownpoodle !!!

Edit- I used to treat everything first day upon arrival… I have since lost several that way ( adverse reactions to multiple IPM’s). In case it’s my one and only chance can’t afford to lose it this method is a little safer less risk of losing the clone…
