Damn you guys got elk in Va?

They reintroduced a herd here years back from animals out West. It’s only in a very small area and a very small number of tags are issued by lottery each year to hunt them. Hopefully they will grow into a decent sized herd as the years go by.

That’s pretty cool , south of us they are doing the same thing they just released the first heard about a year ago. Man for real it’s part the reading I want to move a bit further south by a few hours. We also have a protected wild horse herd floating around down there. It’s cool to see that stuff.

They do tours during the rut and I’ve been wanting to get down there to see them. It’s cool they brought them back here, they’re amazing animals.

Reversal branches on many plants starting to work. The borers love reversal branches for some reason.

Curious how reversing a small branch here and there affects the other plants out in gen pop? (Obviously vin terms of “how” seeded the neighbor plants get).
I don’t have the courage to try this year…

Yes, the neighboring plants seldom get any unless I tie the neighbors branch to my reversed branch. I do this occasionally. Follow along and see what happens. I usually reverse a limb and use it to pollinate another limb. With fem pollen is way less viable and I have to whack them together over several times to get pollination . Once I see good seed formation , I remove and dispose of reversed branches to prevent late pollination. I have seen femmed branches really throw pollen very rarely, so you have to pay attention to the formations. You also would want to spray a prominent branch on the sunny side. Tiny shaded branches won’t produce any fem pollen.

I keep an eye out for how far the initial pollination reaches. It normally is the branches I use and maybe the one below. If I see plenty of seeds being made I know that reversed branch has done its job and is removed. If I see few or no seeds being made , I will let that one remain a while . Any odd places seeded or very small amounts are discarded.

I just do 3 treatments at most. First one when buds are nickel size to coat the stems and nodes really well. Again just before they fill in well. And maybe one 3 to 4 weeks before finish. I do mix mine a bit strong, nothing in there to hurt the plant.
