How big do you like to grow your indoor plants? And why?

Do you have a preferred size of finished plant? 1 foot? 5 foot? What is the rationale behind your preference?

For me it really depends on what I got going on and if I am on a time restraint. I fit in 2 runs a year and shut down for summer so that really dictates what I do. This year I squeezed in a bud run between 2 seed runs and timed it so the pollen would not be kicking around. So as an example, here are 4 plants I grew in a 4x4. 2 Maui Waui and 2 Shiva Skunk.

Here are some Sour Bubble from my seed increase.

It does depend on the situtuation, but typically I like to flip my plants at 18"-24". That 6 inches though can make a world of difference depending on the plants stretch. If there are fewer plants under the light I go to 24" and if I am jamming them in its 18". But how much overhead room makes a difference too.

This tent had a bit of both going on. With so many in there the 6 in the middle really offered the best results.

Depends if I’m growing fems/clones, or regular seeds that I need to sex the plants. I get a lot of males. like 50/50. chopped probably 10 out of this grow. The hydro-tote plants have been going a month longer, and got the extra veg time. They are my Cape Goat cross testers. got 5 crosses going… another 7 crosses still to test out this summer. I’m looking forward to the smoke test on these… see if certain traits carried thru or not.

Last year things looked like this, when I had half a room packed full. Then I built the rest of the floor, got a full room now. Still finishing the walls. At some point, I feel like a tent would be easier, cleaner, better, but I do enjoy having the extra space.

Tomato cages are 3ft tall and everything is in 5 gal soil growbags.

What’s the cultivar on the left dark purple and where can I find some or something that has unique colors

That was a Divine Gelato #3. It was from In House Genetics, I would say they breed for color. But that would be the key, either purchase a clone known for its color or look for breeders that prioritize color as a trait in their offerings. Lots of breeders offer at least 1 variety that goes purple.

I try to get them as close to 1 foot away from the light as I possibly can and usually overshoot that so I need to lollipop. I’m trying to fill up the tent as much as I possibly can. Those are my two 5 x 5 flower tents.

Thanks man, they were sure givers. I collected over 1/4 lb of pollen off those males.

what is your pollen collecting method? i only get a small amount although i do it on a relatively small scale. i just violently shake the males onto the females in a tent, lol.

So this is a quick video I made to show the collection process. Using this process also pollinates the females at the same time.

From there I put the material though my pollen shaker to get out any plant material and then dry it.

Any tips on long term preservation of pollen? I have some coming in the mail and I might not get to use it for a few months…

If it were me, I would break it into small packets and freeze them in a small jar. Then you can grab out the small packs to use as you need them and leave the rest frozen. Just let what you take out warm to room temp before using it. :v:
