Oh shit @roms i totally missed this map 
In my opinion that would makes sense as the oldest samples being found around japan and the bering land bridge region being the closest “high place” if one takes into account the flood and last ice age but also
the possibility of seed dispersal and isolation due to “water shed” when waters recede idk just some of my own musings
