One point i have to note is our modern science has been able to confirm that cannabis pollen is extremely capable of traveling long distance via wind.
For example, i have read at least 3 studies that show pollen in Spanish Cannabis plants that were seeded, and the pollen came from countries across the Strait Of Gibraltar.
Several hundred miles, and still totally viable pollen.
It seems extremly difficult to believe that wild-grown cannabis can be isolated, or was isolated at any point until modern times
