How do I go about vending my seed?

Sorry if this is not acceptable. I’ve been working lines and crossing breeds for quite a while now and I’d like to start introducing them to the market. No branding yet just legitimate, worked stock. Can I just email vendors or is there somewhere I can get information on this subject? Longtime lurker, very underground, very big fan of the people who have given me solid advice over the years. Thanks for reading

I’m not an expert. But I’d send out seeds to as many testers as possible and build a rep and then contact seedbanks with a “see here’s what I got” rep.

But I’m not an expert.

Strainly perhaps?

No need for branding and marketing nonsense.
Have reasonable prices and add a lot of freebies and you’ll take off pretty fast.

If I ever buy seeds again (unlikely, being here) I’d buy from this guy or anyone offering the same price and growing in organic soil, a dollar a seed, that’s reasonable:

Appreciate the feedback so far. I am completely fine with minimal compensation and don’t need to brand if I don’t have to. My main goal is to be able to provide others with hard to find cultivars as well as my own creations. If I can get what I’ve put into it back I would be fine with that

Well to start did you document the multiple grows you did on them? People will want proof of your work. Past that like others have said, get them into the hands of testers who will do grow threads on different sites using your seeds. Once you have got them out there and if.they are any good the rest will fall into place. Good luck

Cool, everyone starts somewhere. Strainly can make you a few bucks but most serious growers will likely want provenance on your gear before you can make any real money. It’s a long tough road to hoe but if you have worked strains of quality the testers will show that and than people will seek your strains

IG, Strainly, or build your own site. Message seedbanks you like about carrying your beans. Greatlakesgenetics, Headie Gardens, JBC, etc. They have sponsorship on this forum.

FYI: “my seed” tends to be a euphemism for something else lol, trust me you wanna say “my seeds” haha.

Omfg :joy: I didn’t even think about that. “Soon, my seed will be in the hands of many”

I’m with @Foreigner I think the best marketing you can get comes from getting testers in the hands of as many as possible and building your rep that way. Sounds like you have some cool stuff though and have put in the time working it so that should help differentiate you from so many of the guys who don’t even bother testing. But, getting some great growers popping your stuff and posting on IG etc is going to really help build your brand.

LOFL Vernal!

Maybe we could do a seed exchange!

Edit: but yeah, what they said. Test grows, documentation. I always like to see their papers :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Absolutely and I’ll start posting pics asap I just never took many pictures because I shared a garden with my dad for years who also taught me how to grow this plant and he was really strict about keeping things under wraps. I started my journey by preserving everything he had kept from '83 and up. Preserved in seed form I have a few Afghani landraces, Hindu Kush, black and red Lebanese, a few Thai landraces, Oaxacan gold, hash plant, a skunk variety which he received in 83, black affie, blueberry, early girl, death star and sensi star. I have crossed the death star with everything listed and still sifting through those projects. Currently running some Durban cheese and grapefruit which I will be working on making crosses with later this year. That’s just some of it. I have an 8x8 veg room, two 4x4 breeding rooms and an 8x8 flower room. Started off being the watering boy at 3yo because my parents had their room jam packed and I was the only one that could fit. I had a wicked tan that winter lol

Tbh I would start with Drag Boat Jeff from @Great_lakes_Genetics and maybe Shoe from Headie Gardens they are the two banks I can think of that constantly allow people to give freebies until they establish themselves then they usually migrate to selling seeds soon afterwards. Just my 2 cents

Oxacan gold, sounds like stuff we used to get in the 70s.

I think there’s options but you gotta act. Active social media accounts are dominating large parts of the market. But i feel like folks are ready for some humility and honesty. Stay true to your projects and document everything.

Collabs instantly increase your exposure too
