How do you keep you clones for longer periods on small pots?

Hey OG!

I’m planning to set up a small grow tent (60x40x80 cm) just to keep clones for my next run, which I’m starting around November.

But here’s my doubt: can anyone help me figure out how to preserve these clones for several weeks (around 10 weeks) in small pots of up to 1 liter? I’m a bit worried about the risk of root bound and also about the plants eventually hitting the ceiling of the tent.

Since the tent is so short, I’m not sure if LST alone would be enough. (Am I right on this?)

For lighting, I’m planning to use 2 LED bars of 18W each (36W total) to keep growth slow and manageable.

So, what’s the technique that you more experienced growers use to preserve clones for that long?
• Do you take a clone from a clone to keep resetting the size?
• Or do you just leave them in the 1L pots as long as possible and deal with the stress later?

Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Small pots with lower nutrients helps. Enough to keep them happy but not enough for them to grow fast.

With 10 weeks you could take clones from the clones you made and have fresh starts ready to go just my 2 cents. Stalling works but involves toping usually… You could just clone those tops and make your decision later

A 1 liter pot is equal in size to a 5"-6" nursery pot. I keep clones in 4" pots for longer than 10 weeks. You should have plenty of room for roots with a 1 liter pot.

low lites low nutes

Just prune them back and keep them small. We have moms a year old or more in 2" coco containers.

Here’s today

These were taken 20 days ago, I was slakin…

These went into the fridge on July 20. They were rooted and fed full strenght veg nutes when they went in.

So that’s how I would do it. It’s off beat and wierd but it works.
Hope this helps…

ya, Tap water for rooting. Once they go in fridge for cold storage they get fed full strenght nutes
The clones stay in the tub for 10 days and pour whatever water is left out. Almost always I can see roots in 14 days.

I love it, i been considering trying perlite and worm castings and know some mix castings in the perlite.

I’ve also been exploring different cloning methods. Hmm, might have to try this perilite thing, lol.
