This is probably the wrong category but in my ignorance this is where I’ll place this post. I’ll spare ya’ll the health scare stuff but today the discharge nurse started to warn me of the dangers of smoking marijuana, stating that they’d had several young patients treated for psychosis and heavy vomiting in a town with a rough population of 25k. And just like that, I was quick to correct her that they were not simply smoking home grown weed, that it was either laced, dispensary weed or more likely vaping some sketchy cartridges. I’ve always been a soft spoken person and as recent as a year ago, I probably wouldn’t have even attempted a rebuttal. I wasn’t aggressive and she was quick to move on rather than engage in a fruitful conversation but my response even shocked me. I just hate to see a blanket warning like that. May you all have the best Christmas ever, mine is getting more time on this earth with my progeny.
No matter what your condition may be/have been, it’s wonderful that you’ve been discharged/set free! ![]()
I’m confident you and yours are going to have a very happy Christmas, and that is most excellent!!
I’d have had a hard time not giving the same type of rebuttal myself.
Mind your business, lol.
Like an RN…not a Dr?
Yeah, no.
Merry Christmas, i stick with homegrown and don’t trust legal products one bit. I rather spend more knowing what i’m getting and that it’s organic free of neem, synthetic pgr, 20ew, ect.
I firmly believe in standing your ground when talking cannabis with health care folks.
As you did, Jerbear, in a polite, but firm, to the cannabis hysteria, that some health care folks are still spewing.
Good on you man!
I’ve been speaking up, for myself, for about 15 years now, to health care.
When asked if I use drugs, I always reply, NO to Marijuana, but then write on the page, I that use Cannabis to full fill the receptors in my body, I was born with, to enhance my health.
They usually have no idea what I’m talking about.
It’s kinda funny the nurse talked about the harm’s of cannabis but try to throw pills down your throat. No one knows the long term effects pills have on the body. I used to take pain killers and wouldn’t go to the bathroom but once a week. That wasn’t healthy but they kept pushing them. Listen to your own body and make informed decisions.
Now pill free and only smoking cannabis I feel great.
Have a Merry Christmas…
My Dr prescribed Omeprazole for my heartburn and I told him I used cannabis for it. He said we don’t really know what the side effects of cannabis can be. I said true but I know what the side effects of omeprazole are and they ain’t good.
I had to get on omeprazole last year after a bad Covid infection that led to me developing GERD and IBS but the moment it stopped helping, the side effects outweighed the benefits.
I smoke an Oaxacan sativa for my ibs pain. It relieves it without stoning too much. I can still drive and function well in conversations etc
Have you found cannabis to offer any relief?
In all honesty for my GERD and IBS stuff, not really if we’re talking symptoms but you know being stoned definitely makes it a lot easier to tolerate. I still carry like Pepcid AC or an antacid on me.
I hear ya on some of the health cares ignorance and practices! My doctor brought it up briefly once but she mentioned to me that long term use has shown the elasticity of the lungs worsen. She wasnt pushy but was more informing of a research finding which I didnt even care to hear.
I hope all is well with you though!!! ![]()
I had a medical appointment once & the person asked how much cannabis I consume… I said “oh about 4 pounds a year” & she just stared blankly & a little slackjawed for a moment. She had no idea what that looked like visually & asked in a passively annoyed manner “How much per week?”
“Oh about an ounce” ![]()

I think she shook her head a little while jotting that down.
She had zero understanding but was an experienced health professional in a specialist clinic. Hmm.
I’ve also encountered plenty of younger nurses that accept that it has medicinal value but still don’t understand the specifics. Presumably they have grown up with less social stigmatization & it shows.

Thanks for the wishes. I’m fine, had some tingly, numbness in my left hand that started on Fri, the 13th and as soon as I said “arm numbness” I had 4 nurses poking me for blood, sticking tabs on my body and hooking up wires. Not to mention the Dr asking me questions and taking away points because I was distracted by everything going on. The whole dumb situation is likely just an inflamed nerve in my lower left arm, supported by the fact that all of their testing was negative for a stroke event.
Still better to be safe than sorry! As messed up as the health insurance industry is use that sucker up ![]()
