You were fortunate your setup kept pH in check. That’s not usually the case for lots of people. An easy SOP still shouldn’t equal to ignoring pH. It’s extremely important for a person learning cultivation to understand. However, yes I definitely agree monitoring and adjusting should be made as easy as possible
