It’s been a few years since I’ve done a grow. I’ve got two ladies, 28 days old.
80/20 Coco/perlite
18/6 light, bumped up from 50% intensity to 75% intensity.
79 deg F temperature
Keeping humidity under 70% (66% at the moment)
1.11 VPD
5 ml Micro/5 ml Grow/ 2 ml Bloom / 1 ml Silica / 0 ml CalMag, ph to 6.0 (tap water), 650 ppm tds
The one lady is growing pretty slow, but she’s different genetics than the other one.
The other lady looks a little pale green to me, but not sure if I’m just looking too closely.
I have a 240w samsung 301h one and if I tune anything above 40-50% at this phase( the led is more than 40cm above canopy) they suffer(they will complete 8 weeks tomorrow), have pictures of the “disaster” in my diary
I’d agree. The first one is a CBG dominant strain, and the second one is a CBD dominant strain. I wasn’t expecting both to have such drastically different needs. I was lightly feeding in the first two weeks, and it was too much for the first one and not enough for the second one. So tried to find a balance between the two.
It’s a 250w VIPARSPECTRA P2000 LED, set about 30cm above the plants.
I had it set at 25% power for the first about three weeks, and the large plant started stretching, so increased it to 50% for about a week or so. It didn’t look like the 50% was “too much” light for them, so put it at 75% two days ago to see where they sit. It might be too much light for them, in which case I’ll either pull the light away, or cut it back to 50%.
But I haven’t seen any leaf curling yet, and the lighter green coloring of the big one was causing me to question if it was asking for more nutes or more light. If I increase the nutes, I might fry the smaller one, so figured I’d try more light and see how she responds.
I mean, look at the small plant leaves, their appearance isnt that good, nothing to worry too much about, just wait and see if the appearance of leaves changes.
I repotted the plants on Monday, and yesterday some of the leaves started curling. Today it’s showing some pretty significant deficiency symptoms. I’m thinking it’s calcium.
I was feedling 1ml Silica, 5ml micro, 5ml grow, 2ml bloom, and ph adjust to 6.0 ph. A member in another forum persuaded me not to add CalMag, as the tap water would probably have been enough. But, I don’t think it was.
PPM was at about 721.
It’s sitting in 75% coco and 25% perlite. Drip irrigation, and the excess goes back into the rez, and I dump it and start all over weekly.
Any idea how much CalMag I should start off adding? Claude AI tells me 5-10ml per gallon, but that seems pretty heavy. I went with 2ml per gallon to start. Should I go heavier?
Doesn’t look like a straight Ca def, but is probably a combination of several problems. Your nutrient ratio looks fine, make sure you mix the micro first. I’d add the calmag, general hydro suggest 2-5mL/Gal, also try to get your hands on a city water report and look for the calcium carbonate levels.
This is the biggest red flag imo, any way to change things up and send the runoff to waste? If not, are you re-adjusting the pH throughout the week? Runoff water can be all whacked out, especially if there are issues in the rootzone.
So I add the silica first, then micro, then grow, then bloom. Always.

I could send the runoff to a bucket and dump it. I guess I didn’t really think I needed to.
I check the ph about every other day, along with the ppm. It usually takes about a week for the ppm to drop below 600ppm. And the ph usually doesn’t rise much above 6.5, but I adjust it down if it goes that high.
Running drain to waste is just something I’d try to get them back on track and figure out what went wrong. But drain to waste in coco is a lot more popular than recirculating.
