Hi,
I wondered how much ultra violet radiation is there in double ended HID or HID lamps in general? I already have glasses, but how about my plastic stuff in that room, will it degrade like when in the sun outside?
e.g. I can buy a switch box in uv stable plastic and a not uv resistant plastic. But is the lamp comparable to the sun?

Havent actually looked up DE HPS specifically, but the plain old SE versions put out effectively no UV. I have seen white plastics get stained orange on the side facing an HPS though. That was objectively awesome.
Not 100% sure on the new CMH bulbs either, assuming the new ones are like the original Philips, they put out very little UV compared to the sun.
If you want UV comparable to the sun, I always suggest T5 Fluorescent reptile bulbs, and even those shouldn’t degrade your plastics fast enough for you to notice or care.
