Both are shit and not worth the money they cost up here. You can make soil with peat moss, compost, and lava rocks. If you can get this you can use native soil. Find somewhere that plants are growing good and use this soil. It may not be tye best at first. But if you keep using the same stuff over and over and you follow a notill method itll turn into some killer soil!!

30% compost, 30% lava rock, pumice, perlite…, 30% cococoir, peat, 10% amendments minerals,organics
Let compost 1-3 months depending on turning frequency, outside temp etc.

thats brutal combo indeed, ill try it this year. im using compost, some ph neutral turf or whats its name, perlite. compost is very good if theres no tropical fruit peels like babanas, oranges and stuff. ive got bad experience even with potatoe tops, tomatoe tops and other solanaceous vegetables. it gets extreme doses of potassium, which is good if its not too much. some wooden ash will do the work.

If you like OFF, just duplicate it with local ingredients.

“Ocean Forest contains the following ingredients: ocean-going creatures for fast releasing nitrogen. Ingredients include: composted forest humus, sphagnum peat moss, Pacific Northwest sea-going fish, crab meal, shrimp meal, earthworm castings, vermicultural compost (bedding material and livestock manure), sandy loam, perlite, fossilized bat guano, granite dust, Norwegian kelp meal, and oyster shell (for pH adjustment).”

Now that you have the base formula, mix it up and test your soll, Test FFOF, and Test your mix. See if you can get similar NPK and micronutrient profiles. There are so many raw ingredients for example kelp/seaweed. My kids gather up piles of that stuff for fun when we are in San Carlos, or Kino.

The only thing that might be hard to obtain on the cheap is the forest humus, A good soil should have a product that is stabilized in decomp.

Mexico has a huge agriculture industry, should be no problem finding high quality soil ingredients.
