How to dry in restricted space? What tools do i need for cutting the flowers?

My room for drying is not that big. The room is also serving as place for cloning and for growing the mothers.

I am harvesting soon. I need to know what is a space efficient way to dry the buds?

I was reading about hanging the whole plants from the ceiling. Also I know hanging some sort of nets from the ceiling.

Which variants can you recommend?

Another thing I need to find out is what kind of tools do I need for cutting and preparing of the buds.

Any scissor which you can really recommend? Something else that I need?

I use these fancy bastards for my trimming.

Also doesn’t have to be from your ceiling by the way you could hang them in a cupboard or on a clothes rack etc etc you just want an environment you control and can monitor as you want sort of low humidity but ya don’t want them cooking either. Also for me I use a dark space to cure to try retain colour(light bleaching makes buds darker IME) other than that ya don’t really need much for a drying area just airflow for first few days to make sure they don’t go fuzzy on ya :+1:

60’s F and 60 rh hang the whole plant for 10 days is ideal. Try to get as close as possible. Any sharp comfortable scissors will do.

I am worried that maybe they could be dried too quick in my clones and mother room. It seems my air exhaust is removing humidity pretty good. The room has 60% rh. Or could it be that this room is ideal?

What you think about cutting the buds off right after harvest and then put them on a net?

How small should I cut a bud? Should I cut them small and get rid of the stems or keep them bigger and more whole?

After 10 days of drying. Where should I put them? In a freezer? Can I store it also safely somewhere else?

Can you send me a link for that scissor?

Hands down the best trimming tool I’ve bought I’ve had the cheaper plastic ones but these that I use are super light weight extremely sharp(a lasting sharpness) pretty durable I’m on my third pair and I still have all 3 just they dull every few crops and I can’t sharpen shit :+1:

What are you gonna use it for… ( i think you have to make edibles from fresh frozen.). But idk about dry nugs in the freezer - once you’ve dried n cured just store them in mason jars / or jars you make jam etc in…
( with boveda packs to keep the humidity in check.)… in a dark cupboard etc …
I hope this helps you somewhat ( though someone else can chime in with more details .! )
Don’t dry too quick and good luck.

I will not hang the hole plant but already cut the buds from the plant and cut the sugar leaves. I will put them in a drying rack or net. If I cut the buds immediately from the plant, should I still dry them 10 days in my drying rack/net or less? Maybe the buds need less time to dry if they are already cut off the plant?

Can somebody tell me what the types of clear/cloudy/amber trichomes mean? What is the substances behind it? When to harvest?

70/30 cloudy/amber is when to chop them. The THC is most potent when the trichomes are mostly cloudy and the high will be more heady. If you allow them to amber up a little the bud will give you a body stone/couch lock.
I trim the buds from the stems myself and dry using a net/tray or box. I move the buds periodically so they dry evenly. You want a single layer NOT stacked onto of on another. They usually are dry enough within around 10 days to be able to jar/bag up for curing. If you leave a small piece of stem on the buds you can see if they break or just fold. If they fold allow longer drying time. Cure them for around 2 weeks opening the jar/bag daily to allow the air to exchange and agitate them to stop them sticking together.

ok thank you. So after the ten days drying on the net into what kind of containement it is best to put them for curing e.g. when you have around two to four pounds? I dont know if I should buy many glass jars??? What is the most uncomplicated thing?

Concerning harvesting timing, can I harvest earlier? How much detrimental is early harvest effect wise (I think yield will not be affected at that point anymore)?
How about the hairs, many of the plants still have more than half of the white hairs. Also it seems sometimes different at the top and the bottom of the plant. Can I harvest only the top and later the bottom?

This the first time i seen someone put real numbers. I aim the same 60/60 but temp never gets that low. Usually ends up around 55% ,65 deg works well. Cant say the best but aim for what viva mexico said n itll be ok. Along with colder air i bump airflow. Tons of air movement but not on buds.

Things to consider
Cola size. Smaller they are faster theyll dry. You want to prolong that as long as possible short of mold.
Make sure drying room is clean n smells clean. The room flavor and smell transfers to the bud some. So cleaner is better. Plus best to know no spores or anything in there. Quick bleach wipe n let air out half hour or so. Usually fan and ac is all thats needed. And scissors. Trays and or
tupperware containers big rectangles work good for filling with trimmed buds. Keep shot glass alcohol to clean scissors as they clog. I try to set the dry area up empty it be like 40s rh. Soon as bud goes in that changes.
I use fine tip fiskars but they clog a lot. Also a good pair of metal snips makes short work of stalks. Im Prob forgetting something.

Someone will say im wrong . I aim for 60/60 ton of air circulating and exhausted from area. Not blowing on buds though I hang trimmed branches til the stem almost snaps cleanly time will depend on bud sizes and settings of environment. Sometimes 5days n i have to seal smaller quicker drying ones. 10-14 for bigger ones.
Then it goes in bpa free tupperware containers or rubbermaid whatever is available.honestly i just buy new ones each run. Your needs less than $20 for containers. Bpa free though supposedly makes a difference.
You can get big ones right at walmart for a couple bucks. My friend straight used 30 gal plaatic totes filled em with bud n capped em. Chit was fire still no side effects or taste i noticed. I think the jar being able to breathe helps. Gasses will escape the plastic unlike the sealed glass. Allows more even drying for me. Then i open em flip the light brick on table n" fluff "
it i guess you can call it. Unstick the buds. Then i lay it back in n cap it. Once its actually dry dry this way
then i seal in glass.

And the harvest. Do not chop until you at least have very cloudy trichs. Shiny clear trichs will dissapoint anyone who tries it.
They turn quick once theyre rolling
n flush will speed ripening sometimes too.
But stay in the window.
You dont want pounds you have to make extract from to work. Im quick to want to chop too. But hold long as you can. Usually i find most strains ive run pretty potent at 55-60 days
But environment n all kinds of things play in each run.

Bang on mate. Only difference I do is I keep like 3 pairs of my trimmers to scrape the others off when they clog :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I ain’t got iso round here atm. But spot on that’s basically how I run my show too.

I guess I will put the buds in 20 liter buckets with lids. But in a cervantes book I was reading that buds in a barrell or something might start to mold easily.

It’s all a learning curve with curing. No buds are the same so times vary I personally when I’ve got a crop big enough use a 30L food grade plastic bucket. I give an average of 5 days before placing it into a tub. Plenty of people would disagree and do 7 days or more hanging before tubbing but I like a longer cure but that said in the beginning on tubbing for me I burp it about 3 times a day and move the buds around to make sure there are no stale spots for mold to form and stick to that for a few days before gradually dropping to twice a day, once a day etc before I get my sweet spot. I go by feel of buds though I don’t use hygros while curing so no idea on temps you just don’t want to cook the nugs you want em about room temp :+1:t2:

by putting them into a tub you mean the food grade bucket?

how you trim? by hand or machine?

can the trichomes indicate to already harvest but the hairs of the plants be still white?

Yes by tub I mean bucket but it transfers to any container really.

I wouldn’t buy a machine I go for bag appeal so I like a close trim not a I can’t be arsed doing it myself so it looks like shit trim.

And triches and hairs don’t matter overly much if you’re after CBDG or whatever it’s called @ReikoX can tell you all about early harvesting for specific stuff I’m not that into CBD I like getting fucked up which tends to come from mature flower.

Check Trichs for ripeness.
I hand trim. I dont like the idea of bud tumbling til the leaves come off.
