How to get up to 1,5 GPW with basic system and 600w HPS

In this topic i will show you how to get outstanding results with basic setup and equipment with yields up to 750g per square meter.

Everyone is buying really expensive equipment for 100-1000$ and dozens of nutrient boosters and stimulants etc. expecting better yields.

These people should realize that it is not about that, but that it is about grower´s skills.

When you reach yields about 700-750g per square meter with basic equipment and nutrients, than you can start experimenting with other stuff. Later on, you will probably find that all these things are useless if you are good grower.

For imagination there is an example how basic system could look like. Great effective low cost design

Nothing misterious about that.

You dont need LED panel for 1000$ to get good quality yield with effectivity over 1 GPW.
Nothing against LEDs, they are just still too expensive. And when i see setup that costs about 1000-2000$ with effectivity about 0,9-1,3GPW i am little bit laughing

So what do you need for good, but not very expensive setup?

Optimised grow place. Basic equipment, nutrients, good grow skills and patience

I will decribe setup for 600W HPS and COCO DRIP, this is the best combination IMHO.

I will show you my grow which i published from start to end (unsure results and yield ) on another forum to show, that you can reach good results with my advises and new clones from unknown person. So it was not trained round!

So i get clones in really bad shape.

But after few days it was not so bad

The whole trick is to have grow space full of buds like with SOG. But i manage it with only few clones.

On space 1x1m i recommend 9 clones

1,2x1m = 12 clones

1,2x1,2= 16 clones

1,5x1,5= 25 clones

When ordering clones make 3-5 clones as reserve.
I recommend to use big RW cubes ( cured 10-20h in water pH 5,6 ) everytime until every clone ingrain.

This is important because when you place cubes in COCO every clone will grow same speed, also the plant will have better stability under heavy buds.

EC should be about 1-1,2 when adding nutrients. you should add nutrients 1-2 days after receiving clones.

The key is to have large amount of buds as with SOG technique.

So you have to EVERYTIME make basic CROP, NOT FIM.

Your clones should have 6-8 branches each after crop!

I am making crop about 6-11 days of veg, depending on clones conditions. Generaly after seeing 6-8 branches on each clone when imagining crop. Really small bottom branches which do not grow fast enough i dont count and i will remove them later.

Wow those clones look terrible… good job on fixing them.

I totally agree with the 600 HPS and Coco… I see it time and time again growers hitting 1.3 GPW with 8-9 Week cultivars that are more about quality than weight.

im gonna run notill under my new 600w. just got a yield master hood:)

There is nothing special to see after receiving clones, so slowly raise EC from 1 to 1,4 before switching to flower.
Never put lamp lower than 60-45cm from plants.

Switch to 12/12 when there are 5-7cm spaces between plants! Not later! if you do, it will result to rapid
upgrowth and stunted lower branches.

After 14 days of veg there is 2nd day of flower.

Same level, spend 14 days 2-5minutes checking that and using bending knees and you will be rewarded!

I made crop on 9th day of veg. After few days a started using bending knees
This is crucial, make 6-8 branches on every plant to be in same level!

You dont need 10 circulation vents, 1 big fan pointed to bulb is just good. I never point fan to plants, they will have to spend energy to their structure instead of blooming.

Red circles are aplicated Trichoderma and you can see one UVB 6% CFL tube 39W, later you will see results.

EC 1,5 ph 5,9

6th day of 12/12

Bending, bending, bending

Always use yellow insect plates to prevent infestation Place them everywhere! 1 plate at bottom and 1 plate on wall isnt enough.

10th day of 12/12

This is what you want!!!

Lamp is high, fan is high.

I am slowly removing bending knees. Everytime i use about 50 knees

But this is not abou spending hours, but only 2-5 minutes per 1-2 days.

EC 1,6 ph 6,0

About 10th day of 12/12 i am making flush. about 80litres of clear water in 1-2 hours, only check ph 5,9-6,0

This is very important!!! Your buds will form soon and you want your plants to be in best shape and your medium salts free.

Nice Even Canopy!

I like your skills!

You are flushing everytime between veg and bloom? Just the best for the flowers

Sorry if you mentioned that but what is the strain this time? Seems like also sativat traits are strong… Those hybrids are very yielding…

What nutrient line and grow medium are you using?

As said before, i am decribing COCO DRIP setup.

I tried many nutrients. Plagron,AH,GH,Atami etc. After few year i am very satisfied with Jungle in Da Box nutrients.

I am not fan of adding boosters and so on, there are thousands of diff. shit you can add and spend your money with minimum result if any at all.

So i use only basic componets, no green sensations, flower bloomers, final solutions and so on.

Big advantage of JIDB is in my opinion that flowers dont create unreasonable amounts of leaves. There inst any reason to cut your leaves

@Kvakos hey there from the US. I’ve read all your threads about this setup and I wanted to say hello and give credit where its due. Ive been scared of coco, but seeing such beautiful plants time and time again has me convinced. Do you currently still use the drip setup?

Why you were scared of COCO? Its the easiest medium to grow and the most friendly and natural medium to plants IHMO. It has so much flexibility and variations how you can use it. I recommend it to all growers, to newbies as to pros in small/medium grows.

Well seeing your plants is proof enough for me… I don’t know I guess I just always heard some people say it was horrible because they were having pH swings cal-mag problems and just issues like lockout but then again I’ve seen so many people pull off Flawless plants so maybe some of them just weren’t doing it right and growing as if it were soil or something

What about for Ebb and flow would it work well there?

there is nothing like pH swings cal-mag problems if you do things right. Make flushes or use less nutrients if you have these problems.

In fact, i take it like pro not con. Because when i see first yellow/orange spot on leaves i know its time to do flush.
