How to make cannabis ointment 🌱

Hello everyone!!!

I would like to show you, how to make cannabis ointment.
I´m interested in making cannabis cosmetics about 10 years and all recipes are mine. In this thread I´m describing cannabis ointment.

When I started to make ointment I was making ointments by many different ways. But after 3 years I´m using just this recipe.
I needed to make it easy, fast, effective and not to clean my kitchen next 5 hours :grinning:

Originally I wanted to make just a fex jars for my family, but gradually it expanded and I didn´t believe at all what problems it helps. Many people called and wrote to me, how perfect medicine it is!
So I have decided to make it more and more because there are many people who need ointment for their diseases.

Ointment is absolutely perfect for many diseases, like all types of eczema, psoriasis, arthralgia and muscle aches, rough and dry skin, leg ulcers, hemorrhoids and many other diseases.

First attempts were with olive oil when I just took dry buds and mixed them with olive oil. Then I started just with vaseline.

So there is full recipe with pictures of every step. I will be very happy If it will be helpful for someone. If you have some question, lets write me!

What do you need?

  1. Buds and leaves (no stems because of bad straining). Use cannabis with largest possible content of CBD!!!
  2. White or yellow vaseline or shea butter. Shea butter is much better because of better absorbed and it is 100% organic of course  If you are using vaseline, you can put 50g of beeswax per 1kg vaseline for better consistency. But if you are using shea butter, use 80% shea butter, 18% hemp oil and 2% beeswax. Shea butter is like rock, so you have to use oil.
  3. Beeswax
  4. Jars (how big do you want is just up to you)
  5. Colander, gauze or canvas for straining
  6. Cooking pot (size depends on the amount which you want to make, but better is to use bigger than smaller)
  7. Higher container for straining and ladle
  8. Oven
If you want some scent, you can use essential oil which is suitable for application on the skin. You can use lavender, lemon, orange,…

In first step turn on the oven for 100 degrees. Take the pot and put all vaseline or shea butter to the pot. Then put pot to the oven till it is liquid.
When it is melted put all buds and leaves to the pot. I´m not writing how much cannabis I use. The fact is that I´m using as much as it can fit there. But all material must be immersed.

Everything properly shuffled and give to the oven for 10 hours. Every 3-4 hours take pot out and shuffle. Be careful about temperature. It must be 100, maximum 120 degreees. If you will have more, with vaseline it begins to bubble and effervesce. This is really bad and try to avoid it. If you use shea butter, it can start to burn. But the most important think is that substances in cannabis starts to destroy.

After 10 hours turn off the oven for 10-12 hours and then turn on and again leave it for 10 hours per 100 degrees. This repeat 4-6 times. Overall time is about 40-60 hours when is the pot in the turn on oven.

Last day put beeswax and hemp oil to the pot and wait about an hour until the wax dissolved perfectly. Then mix it by hand blender for 15 minutes.

When I´am waiting last hour for perfect dissolution of wax I prepared everything for the last step, straining. Prepare higher container, ladle and canvas.

Use rubber bands to fasten the canvas container. Prepare jars too.

Gradually the entire contents of the pot strain through the canvas. Then pour the contents into smaller jars which let freeze. Sieved material throw in the thrash.

And thats all!!! If you have some questions, write me message and I will unswer you as soon as possible

you should try different butters and oils for your recipe. also add some essential oils to try and cover the smell:)

Thanks for sharing this howto, @redyth. In my experience lard has better absorption properties than vasoline. What is your opinion about that?

Wow, very thorough process! :hourglass_flowing_sand:

Do you have some rough idea how much raw material will turn into single crucible?
Do you use dried or wet marijuana? Is it better to crush it to dust in advance?
What scents do you have experience with?

Cannabis is truly a miracle :herb:

Thank you so much for providing the detail information.

Yeah, now we are using shea butter, cocoa butter, cacao butter, lemon and lavender oil  If you have any question, you can write me on mail info@natuwee.cz

I had never been using ladr! Because of protecting animals, we are making ointments for many people and many of them are vegans  Everything from nature is better, lets use shea butter  And the worst thing in case of lard is an expiration. Shea butter or vasoline you can use 3-5 years. I have one of my first vasoline ointments and it is about 8 years old and everything is ok

If you have any question, you can write me mail info@natuwee.cz because I´m not staying here often

How many material? I dont know how many grams, but I put to the shea butter so much as you can stir
I´m using JUST dried marihuana, because in wet there is not so many active substances. Many of them (conversion to acids) starts with drying procces. You dont have to crush it because of stiring.
I´m using just lemon, lavender, orange or tea tree scents, but just a little! Dont use much due to skin ontolerance, especially for people with exema or psoriasis. They have damaged skin and many scents have an alcohol base, be carefull!

If you have any questions, lets write me on mail info@natuwee.cz  im not staying here often.
