How to save Thousands$$$, and why I love the Hemp Farm Bill

Hello!

Welcome to my First contribution to the forum.

This post is mostly geared towards those who use large amounts of edible oils, those in illegal states and those who are on a fixed income.

Personally, i use several hundred mg of oil a day, and it helps to cut back on flower, significantly. Im also a disabled veteran, and otherwise couldnt afford enough meds, as im also in an Illegal state

Now to start!

Reaccuring costs:
30grams of THCA isolate at 99% purity
300mL of quality olive oil(I’m Dairy-Free :frowning: )

One time cost:
roughly a half-Liter of CBD mother liquor @ 500mg~CBD +various other cannabinoids in each gram for

Mason jars, tool to work the disty

Thats it!

Heres a picture of the ingredients and the isolate weighed out

Check that label.

I raise bees, and I know that any honey that is not from american farmers is adulterated. This is in our market at least? Idk about other markets.

I am almost 100% positive the same thing is occuring with olive oil. If you read the back of your olive oil, make sure it says its grown 100% in the country of origin…cause there are a lot of fancy labels with oil in lots from countries like Tunisia…nothing against Tunisia of course, its just an example. :upside_down_face:

California, Greek, Spanish, and sometimes you can find real Italian like this on sale.

Anyway, rant over

Okay, so you got your ingredients, now the processing.

Turn the oven on to 265F. Put that timer on for FOUR(4) hours.

Walk away and smoke a couple :evergreen_tree:

Halfway through, it will look like this

Then finally, once it gets close to being done, its will slow the bubbles down to almost none

To check we have achieved our decarb properly, we can weight it! :sunglasses:

Optimal under vaccum would be THCA x .877 = d9 total.

Im in an oven with a mason jar, so not perfect.

We had 30 grams ISOLATE
X
.877 optimal decarb

26.5~ of pure d9
Or 26,500mg d9 potential

I got close enough for government work after the transfer to weigh
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Now i add enough cbd to my liking.

I like about 10:1 THC:CBD so i put around 5 grams into this batch for 30 grams total cannabinoids.

Now we take our olive oil, 300mL and add it, and put it back in the warm oven. Let it get hot and then shake that jar like it owes you money :smiling_imp:

And then finally :man_cook:

We have it

300mL of infused olive oil
@
95~mg cannabinoids each mL

In most markets i have seen, 100mg cannabinoids in edibles is around 10$

Lets do the friend price of 5$ USD per ml of our oil.

300mL
X
5
=1500$ worth of oil in our batch.

We spent 100-250$ total out the door.

:money_mouth_face:

Okay, this probably wasnt the best formatting, and it might have been a bit too much of a ramble…but thats it!

I imagine you’re putting that mason jar into a bain marie (the sealed mason jar is placed in an open container of water in the oven)? Don’t want to end up with a broken mason jar in your oven.

I have never had a Ball Mason Jar break on me at these temps in hundreds of experiments.

Its not bakeware, but we arent going above 275F.

Shock is what causes cracking in glass, not the heat.

People have been canning foods in ovens for a century, and yeah, their food saftey isnt always the best, but exploding mason jars isnt a normal event

Ball brand Mason jars can take a bit of heat. Theyre designed for canning in boiling water. Havent run one in the oven at that temps, but can vouch they will last multiple rounds of submersion at a water temp of 212F. Im assuming the water bath should limit the peak temperature of the glass close to the boiling point of the water

Only thing is they recommend the lids be replaced after each canning to ensure the seals stay good.

That being said, I generally do the same process but with a metal sauce pan as i prefer to avoid glass in the oven and prefer the handling of a sauce pan.

Consider re-placing your lids after each use (when “jar” is done) like tha amber mason jars a bit more expensive but helps with cure FYI

Great write up! This is so important for people who have no access to cannabis or limited resources. The hemp market has incredibly cheap prices for all kinds of products. It’s something more people should take advantage of and educate themselves on what’s going on. Even medical cannabis companies are unofficially using these ingredients in their products. And charging 10 times the price.

Yes, i literally couldnt afford my medicine, as i do this process roughly 6-8x a year…in terms of any market, thats minimum 7500$

Whereas im paying around $800~ total.

So yeah, you are spot on with the x10 thing.

At that initial price, how does sourcing work? Those prices are the same as the black market THCA cartels flooding the USA in every major state. They have contractor bags of sprayed synthetically derived or shifted THC isolates… Dozens of lbs of isolate being made in batches.

I am all for every form of natural cannabinoid, even for synthetic paths to synthesis for them…I am concerned about the regulatory landscape though… The list of catalysts and precursors and acids needed for the commonly used paths these black market places are using is like…the same ingredient list you’d need to process cocaine in a field…aka highly caustic and volatile and acidic ingredients that you’d be hard pressed to procure without disassembling something that says ‘Do not ever disassemble’ on it.

Not saying the legal market is any better on spraying/sourcing/lying/cheating labs/shopping labs/counterfeits/and on and on.

This isn’t the black market we’re talking about. It’s federally and state regulated hemp producers. The process of making THCa isolate is the same for everyone. Mother liquor is one of the best sources you can get

Not to be confused with the people openly talking about faking COAS and lab tests to sell bulk hemp derived THCA.

Find a legal company with COAs.

This is legitimate, no blackmarket stuff here.

Actually, the government is playing with us right now.

This process comes from THCA isolate, and decarbed. THCA-D9. Normal, we have this down.

Hd9? Like in the grocery store? Thats made from CBD isolate and converted

That contains isomers of THC that the best lab in the country, IMO, KCA Labs, doesnt even have a standard for! They just label it as “Iso-THC”

You can also put the decarbed iso that’s now pure D9 into carts or dab it straight. And even mix some honey liquor in too. Just need a little bit of terps to thin it out. Cool stuff to play around with!

Yes, but over 35% i think? and it will crystallize on you in a cart

Checkout massterps he has the best terps(CDT) i have ever in my life tried or smelled.

Smell the little mL jar across the house

That’s why I mentioned a water bath, because mason jars weren’t meant to be heated in an oven all on their own (i.e. without the water bath).

Yes you don’t want to go over 40% CBD in the carts or it will crystallize eventually.
