HP aeroponics dialing in water duration & dry time

So I’ve been doing an aeroponic v2 setup a while now but I’m currently at the end of the Flowering stage and it got me wondering since my roots are a ball (due to mister clogs in the past causing over watering).

When you gave a timer which works on seconds for on and second+mins for off (dry time).

How do some of you experienced people gauge when you’ve sprayed enough for the roots? Secondly how do you know when the next spray should come along?

My guess is spray until almost completely saturated but not quite. Then set the dry time until it’s just about to be completely dry (barely any water on your gloves when touching the roots). I have a gauge but it’s made for soil which doesn’t work well with clay pebbles.

Again my method won’t work on healthy white roots but it’s what I got right now and it would be interesting to hear what others do.

I’ve had mine set for 2-3s on and 3-4m off. But currently my last plant is asking for more water as it’s drying out faster. So I upped it to 4s on and 4m20s off. Checking it later tonight when the lights go on.

-update 8.29.23-
So it was still a bit damp so I added 20s more and as of right now it’s maybe as an eyeball on how damp the roots are after a 4m40s dry time they are very lightly damp and after my 4s on, they are moderately wet but still barely enough to register on my gloves (more so than after the off timer though). I may push it to 5s again and add some more dry time. But again, what’s the end goal?

It’s not like soil where I can base it on a few inches down… And saturate then let dry. Aero is finicky and I’d like to know if anyone had clear goals or guidelines to base things on.

Thanks!

Lots and lots of dialing…

You know you got it right when roots grow thin and fuzzy.
