Hydro-Tote sprouting some Cherry Cape Goat crosses

This has been my clone tote. til I tossed some seeds in. Now I have Cherry AK x Cape Goat, and Cherry Pie x Cape Goat. Of course nothing’s labelled. they were the last of the tray seeds, and idk what’s what. i’ll figure it out another day. For now, it’s cool to get some of my Cape Goat crosses growing.

I literally just tossed a seed in each net cup… and they all sprouted. it was super easy to just let them come up a few days later on their own.

The clones are Purple Caper - Luxor’s Chocolate CBD, and Dirty Bird - Heart Shaped Lunchbox.

My Venus Fly Trap also survived the winter. I saved a couple clones that were cut late in flower, and they’re still in the re-veg phase. took about 3 weeks to get them to root.

Lights are 2 of those 18" strips, 3000k/reds on 18/6 timer, and Fish tank lights. 18" and 12". The bigger one has a full day light cycle setting and seems to be doing a great job.

Tote setup is a… idk what size that is. 12 gallon? tote. 15 of those 3" net cups, filled with clay pebbles. They took about an hour to scrub n clean. I had clones in here over the summer, which are my plants that are flowering now, and ready to harvest. Everything’s nice n clean. I’m using the Coco A/B feed mix, and Hydroguard. 5" air stone in there. I’ll add another one soon. one of those big round disk ones.

I’ve been amazed with how quick they grew in the past 5 days. Wasn’t really planning on having them this size this quick… so… gotta adjust something. probably move a shelf up with the lights. The greenhouse tent is great, with the humidifier & hose setup. It stays around 77F / 80% It’s gonna work great for my seed trays.

I think I’m going to grow a lot more stuff in hydro. I have a few different setups I can use. Lettuce has been super easy, and everyone loves snacking on that stuff. It’s real nice having fresh lettuce for tacos n salads n sandwiches. I might as well get some cuttings from my Cherry Tomato plants. they just started flowering. I have 4 other, 27 gal totes, and some 6" net cups, and more air pumps. It seems like a decent system to use. I just needed some motivation… and nothing motivates a grower like seedlings outgrowing their current situation.

These fish tank lights…
versus

This setup. runs kinda hot. and I just noticed that end looks burnt out. ugh. great. It’s 400 ppfd on the canopy.

So far… got 2 luxor’s chocolate re-vegging. couple Heart Shaped Lunchbox. and the Cherry AK’s are the huge ones, the Cherry Pie’s are the shorter ones. Had one stem break, so I stuck it back in the cup, and its rooting, Another one has a weak stem, kinda bent over. There’s like 3-4 smaller seedlings that are a few days behind the others.

Temps 80f, RH 85%. way better environment than I’ve been using before, and they’re responding well.

Root porn all day and at those temps nice. I know here it gets in the 100’s during the summer so idk about running dwc

I think that’s a good idea.

Biggest drawback I’ve found when using a tote setup with such close spacing was root tangling making them a pain in the keyster to get out.

Update. Topped them all. Re-arranged the few small ones. Luxor’s Chocolate Re-veg are successful. Added a 2nd 5" air stone, and a USB powered pump in the water. should be good circulation for the roots… which are growing like crazy. I added more Coco A/B, and hydroguard, and ph down when I topped it off today.

Light is 88w with LM301B diodes. and some UV and IR’s in there.

Removed a few of the extra-large fan leaves. Tossed in a stray ladybug. Next move is a 2x4 tent setup in the grow room. we’re almost done harvesting.

Trimmed the CAK & CP. I figure half of those will be male anyways. The 2 Luxor’s chocolate are fully re-vegged. 2 on the right side. The little ones are Heart Shaped Lunchbox, and I want them to survive… so… created more space for them. Stuff is trimmed to a T, 2 tops on most of them, 4 on a couple. I probably should’ve done that like 2 weeks ago.

Purple Lemonade x Orange Gogi (x4) seeds popped.

Cape Goat ‘kids’ being all big n stretchy. Cherry AK & Cherry Pie. Now… how to move a hydro-tote downstairs to the basement?? ugh.

about time to get the big lights on again. maybe 2 more weeks, when I transplant the solo cups to 5 gal’s.

I should probably get a cage on the tote plants next. so they don’t fall over. things were growing into the lights in that little greenhouse tent.

What are your reservoir temps?

low 60’s 62-64. basement is on the cool side, with the big lights off right now. If needed, I do have a fish tank heater to throw in there.

Today the water reservoir got topped off, and added in some Coco A/B, hydroguard, and pH down. They should respond well to that.

Having them on the ground helps. When I setup a DWC it cost a bunch to keep the reservoir cool inside the house. It is much cheaper to add heat than it is to extract heat.

Yup. Cement slab basement floor keeps it a constant cool temp.

I’m going to make a 2nd tote, like this one. It’s been great for keeping clones. I had clones in this thing for about 6 months over the summer. It was outside, in a little greenhouse tent, with a solar air pump. Then, I can take clones off those 2 Luxor’s Chocolate CBD clones, and do a full tote, 1 strain. Those are the 2 smaller plants outside the green support cage.

Hmm. Yeah. I’m in a pondering mood. Not sure which direction I want to go. For now, I’ve got 2 dozen 5 gal soil growbags, so I’m using them, and flowering out this tote, and seeing if the hydroponics is lacking in any aspect. I wanted to try this a year ago. I’m just now getting around to it. The hydroponic lettuce was some good learning practice. I got busy chasing out that Cape Goat seed crop. Now it’s back to learning some new methods… and phenohunting these dozen crosses.

Out of the 2 dozen I threw down, this one popped out like a freak. it’s Jr Mint BBC MAC1 x Cape Goat. Hopefully it’s female.

These 2 little ones are Dirty Bird’s “Heart Shaped Lunchbox” clones. Definitely growing this stuff again. It was a really good chocolate pie x pbb x mimosa cross.

If I was inclined to cut back the carpet I could get to the slab where the girls are, but I’ve decided to skip the chiller and build Ebbuckets. I’m not sure if 10 gallons is enough for two plants, but I’m going to give it a go!

I imagine there will be rapid fluctuations in the concentration during flower, GH nutrients will probably be the starting point.

The idea is to have two buckets stacked on either side of a reservoir bucket, the reservoir pumps into the buckets on top and the top buckets drain into the lower and recirculate back to the reservoir. This way I don’t have to worry about temperature of the solution.

I have these little units. I was thinking to use them for some veggies. the aerogarden lettuce has been pretty popular around here. They’re the cardboard boxes in that bottom picture.

Right now I’m working on re-arranging the big lights. my Evo10 got hung in the old hooks, and was up against the wall. So I want to get some edge space, and keep the plants more in the center of the room. Also re-doing that corner. got more panda film. and an 8" exhaust fan/filter, and a ‘Gear Board’ to put up on the wall. get all the cords together.

Sounds like a plan. I had an idea using a vertical setup similar to that one but using a 4x4. It might not be until next year that I get to run a 4x4, I need 240V access. It is cool to see basic concept works well enough to sell on the market so I’m sure I can scale it way up no problem.

I got busted 8/19/25. and my lettuce and clay pebbles thrown all over. was some bs. i have my mmj card. and lots of cbd/thc-v strains. Pennsylvnaia law doesn’t give a shit. fuck me. surprised i’m not brought up on tax evasion RICO charges.

25 paraphinalia and 1 ct of growing. 32 plants.

the future isn’t today. i’ll be sitting 7 months for this. $10k on a lawyer.

They took my Evo10, and smart69 contorller. left the AI controller, and power supplies, and half my old lights. so… theyr’e back up growing god’s lettuce right now. i had to toss the rest of the devils lettuce they left growing . not taking that bait. but. documented the pix.
