I can smell faint odor coming from the exhaust of my charcoal inline filter. is it normal?

I have the AC infinity 3x3 grow kit which comes with a 6" charcoal inline fan.
I’m about 2 - 3 weeks away from harvesting, and the smell is getting louder by the day.
I have to keep the tent fully closed now and set the inline filter dialed to a low setting 3.

When I go outside and get right under the exhaust vent (real close like about an inch away), I’m still able to smell it faintly.
Just wondering if this is just how it is, or maybe I have a leaky vent, or the filter needs replacement? (I doubt the filter need changing since I’m on the 2nd grow and the first grow I didn’t need to use the inline fan at all).

Is it unreasonable to expect complete odor removal?
And, how many grows until the filter needs to be replaced altogether?

Peace

Interesting, I might need to look into this further if the smell gets too much

That ONA gel is legit! I tried it for the first time a year or so ago and made work switch over to it too :joy:

We had huge containers of ONA under the gigantic fans blowing out the roof. Ah 215

If you turn down inline to 2 can you still smell it

And is your humidity high , if so can it be lowered

If your that close I harvest and have to go one inch to smell I wouldn’t worry but Ona would put my mind at ease if I was worried and would be good come harvesting as paps says that’s smelly

How is your filter connected to the inline and then from inline to ducting

I like foil tape as it’s heat and moisture resistant , duct tape seals fail over time ( loosen )

Maybe air from growroom is being drawen in after filter just slightly

I grow basil, catnip, and spearmint upstairs in the house. Great visual distraction for the smells.

Yeah, it’s faint but it’s still there even at setting 2.
Temp ranges: 68 - 78F
Humidity: 50 - 65%

I have this noise reduction clamp connecting the filter and the inline (it’s sealed real good).

Then, foil and screw clamps for the hose to the inline.
I’m probably being overly cautious. My neighbors are good folks with young children and I just don’t want to step on others’ toes if I can help it. Even though I live in a legal state and all. Anyway, I’ll probably check out the ONA and experiment abit. I’m sure it’ll come in handy during trimming time as well.

I’ve definitely considered this!
And, most likely will be doing just that.
Alittle around the perimeter of the property and some in small pots around the exhaust vent.

How much use has the filter seen seen?

I have never had a carbon filter remove 100% of the smell.

Normal. They are not perfect.

Filters have an optimal flow rate at which they scrub the air best. Carboair have a graph to follow for optimal performance. Having said that you’ve probably just smashed it out the park and you have some glorious stinking weed :+1:

Normal, they help, but they do have a limit, the further along you are in flower, depending on the strain, some are just extra strong smelling…but I agree with the ONAs they really do work

I use a carbon filter like most people along with a couple of small HEPA air purifiers from Amazon.

Common whiffs are normal. Nice reminder you’re growing some dank

I picked one up but I should’ve went with a larger one. Does help but replace the filters too often. I will try the Ona gel out.

I gave up on containing the smell and feel your frustration growmie.

Although I do have lots of tropical plants so I playfully tell the neighbours that it’s my Brugmansia’s doing a winter bloom.
