I suck at growing photoperiods any ideas?

Title.
Medium is bag soil.
Nutes is General Hydro
I usually veg a little short to have room in my 2x2x3.

The funny flipside to this story is autoflowers have been my best grows.
Everyone says oh autoflowers are hard…
Honestly I think they are way easier lol , maybe its the small pot small footprint ? Perhaps, hard to say lol. Small pot + less nutes needed= less chances to go wrong I guess ;p

Idk , its just weird, almost all of the strains I have grown except Jack The Ripper , had weird issues, whether it gave me shitty bud structure, weaker highs or whatever it just didn’t work out.

For example, the beautiful pinkleberry I just finished up, Its pretty but the structure was ass. Don’t know if that was a me problem but it was super airy and did not stack bud. it was weird. Almost grinspoon like but that plant apparently does not carry that trait so idk what happened …
it smoked tho LOL.

Id maybe argue some of it was genetics but most of the photos I grew were OG beans and its specifically a photo issue

I think you might want to be a little more specific about the troubles you’ve had with photos. And provide a few more details. For example: larfy loose buds and bad structure might just need better light. Getting good photo genetics and then posting your intentions here, before, in a diary would be the best bet. Stop growing hemp and you may never go back.

I mean yeah , I can’t really say for certain what else, the genetics were fine,

Really just intend to at least fill a 2x2.

You can already look at any of my grows in my top topics , lots of fails lol but the autos never did me wrong ;p

If the autos turned out better than the photoperiod strains, then you got some bad genetics/seeds. That would be my logical conclusion. In general, photoperiod strains are much more potent and vigorous.

Yah. Ok. I took a sec and all I saw were problems and a bunch of Solo cups. I’m right in the middle of watering my own right now but in the next day I’ll look back through your posts and come back with suggestions (if they all haven’t been made already). I can promise you that a decent harvest is for sure doable with the help of this community.

I have grown auto’s for years but went back to photos because of the potent bud’s you can get.
Don’t get me wrong my last auto was a double grape from mephisto and i ended up with 17+ o/z of cured bud’s grown in coco coir in 3 gallon air pot feed 4 times a day.

My suggestion would be to change mediums and get bigger pots. It’s really hard to work with soil in anything less than 2 gal for people who have less experience with soil. You would most likely find it far easier and a better finish with quality coco and bigger pots for that nutrient regimen. Lots of people have great success and fairly easy grows with that sort of set up. I figure you’re almost there might as well just get bigger pots and some better coco and give it a go… Cheers @BeTheLight

Edit- I always recommend an inert media if you’re going to use hydroponic nutrients. Think Rockwool or Coco.

Maybe because you start flowering too soon.

I can´t see much difference between the two types grown in soil.

Autos, are what they are and you can´t stop time.
Photos you vegg as you want to bring the size up and then flowering.

Feeding and watering: they tell you. The bigger the pant, more feedings and water will be needed.

Overwatering is kind of a common problem, and autos seem to resist it better.

Yeah flowering too soon is definitely a trait. I’m gonna flower my newer plants longer this time around

Make sure the environment is dialed in, temp/humid controlled along a baseline so you can rule that out

What brand of bag soil are you using?

It was a random organic one I can’t remember the name low-key sorry :disappointed:, drains pretty good though despite low perlite

All good Growmie. Since you are using GH nutrients my suggestion is using promox HP. I have used those combos with my last few grows and very pleased. Water every other day depending on air circulation and using pH nutrient water, keep temp below 80°f, Humidity no higher than 70% even during flowring. This is my basic guideline and works like a charm. My Coop grow is a great example as I am using 3g fabric pots instead of my usual 5g fabric pots.

This is a good point! If you do stick with soil, going bigger gives you kind of a buffer zone/layer of protection against common nuting mistakes

So really 5 gallon+?

Right on!

I can’t really speak to soil or organics of any type… I’m a Hydro guy the closest I get is Coco. But there is a lot more cushion in a five gal. But I would still search around for people running soil with hydroponic nutrients done well and kind of mimic what they’re doing. Any advice from me would basically help you with an inert media not really soil.

3 or 5g fabric pots are ideal. :sunglasses::call_me_hand:

3 feet is pretty short. A 5g bucket is like 2’ just on it’s own. You can make it work but I’d be considering a taller tent if I were you. Best of luck.

I use 7g fabric pots.

I can open the tent and just raise the light :candle: :rotating_light:
