I probably read him saying it on an older thread to be honest lol

Well I just read planet lost coast is supposed to take care of them. That I can add it to the water. I’ve never tried. Guess I could have tried that prior to ordering the other stuff but at this point I’d rather get a sure fire way than the questionable maybe stuff. Thankfully I’ve not had any other pest this grow.

Mosquito dunks work pretty well too, and I saw @drgreensleeves mention another product you can add to water but I forget what it was called, but I think it was basically a concentrated liquid mosquito dunk?

I had gnats this bad, I used that microbe-lift bmc in two waterings and they were stone cold dead.

I’m really surprised I don’t see more people mentioning to cover the soil in some way. When you start seeing a ton of gnats it’s because they are laying the larvae in the soil. Especially really wet soil

For me personally, I just think it makes it more annoying to water over and thats also why I dont like DE personally, but I think I have used too much of that in the past where it turns into chalk basically.

Diatomaceous Earth for the win. My opinion.

I sprinkle it really lightly not a complete cover at all. If it’s turning into chalky mush I’d say you definitely used to much. The amount I use normally washes down into the soil after a couple waterings.

If anyone’s curious on how DE works it’s pretty hardcore. The fragments of fossil in it are so sharp it basically gives them death by a thousand cuts. Once it cuts them they dehydrate and die. That’s why I like it on the soil for gnats because the larvae gets cut up before they can do anything. And it’s all natural no real pesticides

This is why I don’t use it as I am a natural farmer with highly active biological soil and it would destroy my rolly pollies

That makes sense. Never thought about that aspect of it before. I’m more of a kill on site get this shit away from my plants type of dude  one of the first plants I ever grew got demolished in flower by some kind of beetle and kept getting the gnats and caterpillars but I wanted to stay as organic as possible with the limited knowledge I had and since the DE and peppermint oil worked I never looked back lol it’s not going to stop a really bad infestation of anything but it stops the problem before it really gains traction

Yea same here now! My outdoor veggie beds probably have a couple too many, but they never really hurt the plants, I do suspect they have eaten some seeds we put out that didn’t sprout though  my 20gallon pots inside are on their 4th cycle no till though so they dont have a ton of them, but definitely a good few little decomposer mites I don’t wanna hurt either

As long as you chop and drop things or have brown waste for mulch or something they will eat this instead and won’t touch the living plants but if they have no other food source will survive if necessary

Just ran across this video.

@Ibegeekdup this is what I meant by growing pains as well. Watch the leafs during the stretch in this time lapse

I just watched that so she just wanted to be bigger than the pot is allowing her and she isn’t very happy from my understanding. The fact she is a sativa she might not be lacking anything just part of what they are

Update time
4x4 everyone got plain water as the stuff didn’t come in. I did make a stronger batch of planet lost coast and sprayed the fuck out of the soil. It killed quite a few on contact. Will still be waiting to use the other stuff as soon as it lands. I’m pretty sure I should be pollinating the skunk and unicorn island about now.

2x4 well these girls are fattening up. There are some contaminated spots that I wasn’t perfect with playing with the pollen while in the 4x4. I did take some extra glamour shots of the buds I think are looking pretty fucking dope. These got water with 2oz of planet lost coast mixed into it as this is where the infestation is the worst. I also blasted the soil and top layer with the planet lost coast there are so many gnat carcasses on the floor so I’ve got to clean that up. I can not wait until the good stuff comes in.

5x5 plain water was given to these babies today. Fighting the humidity in this tent to keep it up. Humidifier won’t stay on. Holding around 40 though since it’s been a little cooler these last couple of days.

@TonesOwn @BigMike55 the DE is that something you can use all through the grow? Thankfully I’m in a tent so it cutting stuff up will only be a solid option as I do not want pest at all.

@thatdankbassist I would be the one to get it chalky to lmfao.

I call it small pot root stress some even “freak out” over it  this can cause a type of “forced flower” even expose herms sometimes
