Will post photos later.my Isalnd sweet skunk is showing a dm. Deficit in some nutrient…probably calcium…some say this can be the LED lights
One thing is for sho I never had this kind of trouble in my closet with the CFL bulbs.
Any one have this trouble with LED lights?
Also.tired of the constant battle with the humidity in tent. I put my female plants in the closet with my home made LED lights and added cfls around the bottoms
I put the male in another room to start pollen collection.
Nothing but success with LEDs myself.
What’s your medium?
What’s Temps are you running?
I have not had this problem but have seen many complain about the same issue.
Plants under LEDs usually suffer with calmag issues. More so if your growing in coco coir for some reason. Adding a small dose of calmag to your schedule usually fixes the issue pretty quickly.
I feel like most “real” grow leds are too intense. Granted, I have only used lower end ones.
If you like cfls, try sils. You just bust the dome off of an led light bulb and let her rip. I built a new sil fixture like a month ago because I like them so much.
I like you preferred floros. I stopped using them due to concerns about mercury. Why did you “upgrade”?
Can be frustating trying to get new gear dailed-in . Are you having problems getting enviroment on point ? Nutrient deficits ? You’ve increased light level so everything else needs to be ramped up also . Are you in Coco ? If so cutting it 50% with perlite will help with PH & calcium / magnesium problems . How’s your water ie soft or hard ? If soft you want 5 - 6% calcium content nutes , harder already has higher calcium content . RO / Distilled water has none . What nutes are you using ?
This is usually a big difference for people coming from HPS. Your leaf temperatures will be way lower with LED. Gotta turn down your fans and get the ambient temps into the 80s.
Yup… I like to pin it between 80 to 82 degrees because LEDs lack the same heat that all our oldschool lamps use to naturally put off. Temp is definitely a variable to watch when running leds.
I usually just move my lights closer to my canopy as well if there is a nice warmth (not hot) to the back of your hand you should be in a pretty comfy spot for your plants.
ISS isn’t a nute sensitive strain per se . I’d start with light level . Are your plants tacoing / praying ? If so turn lights down around 800 DLI . What are temps / RH inside tent running ? Tell us about your setup . It’s easier to control your enviroment by controlling the room that tent is in . It might take added HVAC / Dehumidifying . Are you exhausting tent in the same room or outdoors ?
I run coco just like a supersoil with a mix of tap water and RoDi. A tad bit of an acid will help to free up some of that calcium if it’s in carbonate form. 1:200 apple cider vinegar, rice vinegar wood vinegar
@potpotpot
I have no idea why I thought I should up grade.
I was running this strain and others in a large closet painted white with a home made sil set up and some cfls for other light.
Happy frog cut with perlite and using mega crop for nutes. It worked fine. This is the first run of ISS with the tent and LEDs. I have a humidifier and Temps have been cool. I will.put my ac unit back in the window soon as it’s been climbing up.to mid 70s Temps in the day.
I put these babies in my closet with the old set up this morning I may transfer.to.bigger pots but I have never done so after flipping to 12 /12…
My water is well water and very hard. Runs about 330.ppm. I used to hit then with Epsom salt mixed in the well.water about once a month…but I never had a calcium deficient plant before either…not sure adding mag is great move right now.
@boatbum
That is the other thing if I run these lights above around 25% they cook my plants…what the fuck…when I ran Roman grapefruit in the tent I kept getting ppm issues …so if I have to control the room Temps and room humidity then why do I have a tent.
I have no close neighbor or kids. The smell is not an issue…I don’t need a tent
Been using Cree LED for a while and last year switched to Jacks and their schedule recommends adding 1gram epsom salt per gallon at feed. I actually have upped the epsom to about 1.1- 1.3 gr per every feed/water. Day 65 of 100 here for 2 different hazes. I try to keep VPD in range and my PAR is pushing 900 even turned down at top of colas.
What percent are you running your lights at in Veg?
@CapnCannabis have ran them at 25% the entire time. I started then out higher than that and not…close…but they almost burned my plants up.
I don’t know the PAR but I just used a cheap.lught meter from.lowes and the light from mySIL set up is about the same as the vivisun at 25%
I have a lean to that I can convert to a grow room at some.point…but need. …more time to fool with it.
Also have 12 plants out doors that will top 10.feet so …there is that…lol
maybe some pics of the plants can pin point something ? i know when i switched to led the intensity was the thing i needed to figure out but sounds like your running them low
So a few things consider running hotter like 80-85F range as it promotes better transpiration, next didn’t see how close you were running your light but give them a good 18-24" from your plants when in the earlier stages even if your running 25%.
Typically people with Cal issues is cause they are running cooler and the leds drive the plant harder to the point they can transpire fast enough and take in enough calcium to repair and or help themselves vs the intensity of the light.
And yes Pics
Led takes a while to get dialed in but than the yields surpass that of hps. The plants need more watering and not necessarily more nutes.
Well after I delete some photos and wait thirty days I might have some storage on this phone.
