In Search of Orange October (Sherbet) šŸ‘½

I had a couple of clones that didnā€™t survive, so I took new cuttings of GM #3 and #7. While I was there I took stem rubbings, and most of the moms left have the orange smell. So soon, itā€™ll be deciding which ones are more orange than their siblings.

I found another male in full flower yesterday and removed it. Now the pot with 7 plants is down to three females. Iā€™ll post a picture later today or this weekend. He had a mild orange smell, but nothing loud.

I donā€™t know if Iā€™m going to be successful getting a strong orange smell. Sometimes I think I smell it, sometimes I donā€™t. For the past several months it has occurred to me that I might not smell very well anymore due to covid or the vaccine, I donā€™t know.

However, this is a great strain with an up high and great flavors. And I have more seeds. So Iā€™ll keep you posted about what smells I get.

Iā€™ve been training this lady to bring indoors. Just bending over tops. Sheā€™s ready to flip NOW but I donā€™t have room for her. I was happy to confirm today that sheā€™s female.

Imagine these spindly branches heavy with very large and very dense buds. Other Gelato Meat Iā€™ve grown had thick branches. But this lady is going to need a tomato cage.

Here is my other favorite. I topped her, a couple of times but thatā€™s it. Sheā€™ll be too tall to bring indoors, and will be flowering outside.

Theyā€™re getting started and so far nothing loud. Iā€™m sensing a theme. Even loud clones Iā€™ve grown before donā€™t smell much. Iā€™m seriously losing my sensitive sense of smell, Iā€™m afraid.

Anyway, thatā€™s just an excuse because I started this grow to find loud orange peel stem rub and orange creamsickle buds. But Iā€™m really happy with the two I put in their own pots. #4 is my favorite, but thatā€™s just because of how I trained her.

#3 I topped and thatā€™s about it.

And the other ladies, who will have to be content with a small size and maybe getting run in the future from a clone:

I decided to bring in Pheno IV, but it looks like sheā€™s too big for the other ladies.

I think I have just enough space in this tent for her to double her size in stretch, but thatā€™s it. Iā€™ll have to move her to the corner though. The other ladies are in the shade! :exploding_head:

Tomorrow Iā€™ll remove any lowers and move her to a corner. Today Iā€™m bushed.

She grew two inches since yesterday. I moved her into the corner to free up a lot of space and had to raise my light again.

Since this picture I removed a bunch of lowers. I have the feeling that sheā€™s going to be very tall!

Great job managing the space.

Absolutely, thanks for the interest! :+1::+1:

That sounds pretty awesome but Iā€™ve got too many seeds to grow right now. Even other orange strains.:rofl:

Pheno IV is different from the rest of the phenos Iā€™ve grown this year and last. It flowers a couple of weeks later and is stretchier.

Iā€™m not picking up any wonderful smells from her but itā€™s early yet.

Pheno IV could be a keeper. I smell orange gelato, or as I like to say, orange creamsickle. Itā€™s not really loud yet, but itā€™s delicious!:drooling_face::drooling_face: and I think itā€™ll ā€œlouden upā€ soon.

Maybe this will be a success based on the original plan after all! :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

Pheno III has been getting really weepy in the greenhouse due to the heat. I moved her to a window this morning and thatā€™s not helping much. So I decided to move her outside.

Kinda looks like a fruit tree, no?

I think this is pheno IV. Sheā€™s got some orange but itā€™s not loud. But this strain is a good yielder, and look how huge she is!

Sheā€™s not done stretching, either. I raised the light again yesterday. Sheā€™s going to dominate this tent. Hell, she already is. šŸ¦£

Itā€™s been 11 days since my last confession. Tangerine, anyone?

This pheno, a couple weeks in, has an unmistakable ripe summer tangerine smell. Itā€™s not quite as loud as the orange peel stem rubs from a couple of years ago, but itā€™s plenty loud and I think itā€™s going to get louder. #1.

And #2, that smooth, energizing Gelato Meat smoke test will decideā€¦

Wow! This is one popular thread! :cricket:

Anyhoo, itā€™s my documentation too. :books::file_cabinet: And today Iā€™m documenting pheno VI, from what little mass she was able to, uh, ā€¦ amass, I guess. At least in that little pot.

^^ Thatā€™s after smoking a few doobs, but you get the picture. And sorry I didnā€™t take one. :framed_picture:šŸŖ»:crazy_face:

Itā€™s fantastic! But ā€œGelato Meatā€ (whoso readeth let him understand) is always fantastic. Iā€™m starting to run low on seeds, so need a strategyā€¦

Anyway, I harvested her a couple of weeks early, Iā€™m guessing. But I was running low on weed so I took the donest and Iā€™m pretty happy with how she turned out. Sheā€™s fruity, ish, just not orange.

Itā€™s September, and this is the only pheno that might make it to October, but itā€™s doubtful. Sheā€™s also the Phattest in the bunch.

Sheā€™s definitely putting on her fall colors, as you can see here:

Iā€™ve been miking this lady every day. I took a branch the other day and sheā€™s fire but not quite ready.

Buds are a little thin compared to some of the other phenos. But sheā€™s going to give me a LOT of buds! :lotus:

Smells: Over-ripe cantaloupe. Not orange. But I dig it.

Geez - I shoulda smelled the buds while I was out there. Pheno III is almost done. I have three GMs extant in the greenhouse and Iā€™m going to let them get more amber before chopping.
