I had a couple of clones that didnāt survive, so I took new cuttings of GM #3 and #7. While I was there I took stem rubbings, and most of the moms left have the orange smell. So soon, itāll be deciding which ones are more orange than their siblings.
I found another male in full flower yesterday and removed it. Now the pot with 7 plants is down to three females. Iāll post a picture later today or this weekend. He had a mild orange smell, but nothing loud.
I donāt know if Iām going to be successful getting a strong orange smell. Sometimes I think I smell it, sometimes I donāt. For the past several months it has occurred to me that I might not smell very well anymore due to covid or the vaccine, I donāt know.
However, this is a great strain with an up high and great flavors. And I have more seeds. So Iāll keep you posted about what smells I get.
Iāve been training this lady to bring indoors. Just bending over tops. Sheās ready to flip NOW but I donāt have room for her. I was happy to confirm today that sheās female.
Imagine these spindly branches heavy with very large and very dense buds. Other Gelato Meat Iāve grown had thick branches. But this lady is going to need a tomato cage.
Here is my other favorite. I topped her, a couple of times but thatās it. Sheāll be too tall to bring indoors, and will be flowering outside.
Theyāre getting started and so far nothing loud. Iām sensing a theme. Even loud clones Iāve grown before donāt smell much. Iām seriously losing my sensitive sense of smell, Iām afraid.
Anyway, thatās just an excuse because I started this grow to find loud orange peel stem rub and orange creamsickle buds. But Iām really happy with the two I put in their own pots. #4 is my favorite, but thatās just because of how I trained her.
#3 I topped and thatās about it.
And the other ladies, who will have to be content with a small size and maybe getting run in the future from a clone:
I decided to bring in Pheno IV, but it looks like sheās too big for the other ladies.
I think I have just enough space in this tent for her to double her size in stretch, but thatās it. Iāll have to move her to the corner though. The other ladies are in the shade!
Tomorrow Iāll remove any lowers and move her to a corner. Today Iām bushed.
She grew two inches since yesterday. I moved her into the corner to free up a lot of space and had to raise my light again.
Since this picture I removed a bunch of lowers. I have the feeling that sheās going to be very tall!
Great job managing the space.
Growing fast and healthy , great little project , hope you dont mind if i watch along .
Also i have just made some orange seeds if you would like to try some or pass them to your friends ā¦ (blood orange x iraq landrace x deathstar)
Absolutely, thanks for the interest!
That sounds pretty awesome but Iāve got too many seeds to grow right now. Even other orange strains.
Pheno IV is different from the rest of the phenos Iāve grown this year and last. It flowers a couple of weeks later and is stretchier.
Iām not picking up any wonderful smells from her but itās early yet.
Pheno IV could be a keeper. I smell orange gelato, or as I like to say, orange creamsickle. Itās not really loud yet, but itās delicious! and I think itāll ālouden upā soon.
Maybe this will be a success based on the original plan after all!
Pheno III has been getting really weepy in the greenhouse due to the heat. I moved her to a window this morning and thatās not helping much. So I decided to move her outside.
Kinda looks like a fruit tree, no?
I think this is pheno IV. Sheās got some orange but itās not loud. But this strain is a good yielder, and look how huge she is!
Sheās not done stretching, either. I raised the light again yesterday. Sheās going to dominate this tent. Hell, she already is. š¦£
Itās been 11 days since my last confession. Tangerine, anyone?
This pheno, a couple weeks in, has an unmistakable ripe summer tangerine smell. Itās not quite as loud as the orange peel stem rubs from a couple of years ago, but itās plenty loud and I think itās going to get louder. #1.
And #2, that smooth, energizing Gelato Meat smoke test will decideā¦
Wow! This is one popular thread!
Anyhoo, itās my documentation too. And today Iām documenting pheno VI, from what little mass she was able to, uh, ā¦ amass, I guess. At least in that little pot.
^^ Thatās after smoking a few doobs, but you get the picture. And sorry I didnāt take one. šŖ»
Itās fantastic! But āGelato Meatā (whoso readeth let him understand) is always fantastic. Iām starting to run low on seeds, so need a strategyā¦
Anyway, I harvested her a couple of weeks early, Iām guessing. But I was running low on weed so I took the donest and Iām pretty happy with how she turned out. Sheās fruity, ish, just not orange.
Itās September, and this is the only pheno that might make it to October, but itās doubtful. Sheās also the Phattest in the bunch.
Sheās definitely putting on her fall colors, as you can see here:
Iāve been miking this lady every day. I took a branch the other day and sheās fire but not quite ready.
Buds are a little thin compared to some of the other phenos. But sheās going to give me a LOT of buds!
Smells: Over-ripe cantaloupe. Not orange. But I dig it.
Geez - I shoulda smelled the buds while I was out there. Pheno III is almost done. I have three GMs extant in the greenhouse and Iām going to let them get more amber before chopping.
Donāt worry Iāll help cheer you across the finish line Lookin good, home stretch you got this
