Indicana Jones Rides Again (Part 2)

Coco, drippers, timers, set it and forget it. Fuck stuffing pots. Runoff to gutters/pvc instead of a bulkhead if you have the ceiling height. I run 1 gallons at <11days veg and 9-10.5/light (4x4). @PatHealy is on the money and a special place for bare bulbs

A lot to be said for beds and organics if you’re still looking for simple and don’t mind the mass/mess.

You got this bro, holler if you have any questions, but looks like a good crew in here.

Good vibes all

So I went to install some stained trim last friday. I pulled up to the job and it started raining. I couldnt cut outside so i took the trim into the house and told myself that I’ll try again on Monday. So I get to the job this morning and to my dismay, I see a carpet van at the house. I also see all of my stained trim stacked up in the driveway. Whats this? I walk up into the house and and see guys installing new tack strip everywhere and in the back i see a carpet amigo installing my baseboard. I call the project manager and get no answer. The message says she is out of town til tomorrow. So i just backed away slowly from the house and went home. Who am I to intrrupt a christmas miracle?

TLDR; This is the first time ive ever had a mexican take my job. Literally

Did he take your job? Or do your job?
Sounds like you stopped in and supervised your job, invoice is in the mail.
They push back, bill em for wasting your day!
Did the carpet amigo cope the stain grade moulding?

If he didnt cope it, his 45s were tight as a gnats ass. We’ll see how this plays out. I measured this job so that each wall has a specific length associated with it. If my man just started hacking into my 14 foot lengths to do the inside of some closet, hes gonna be in bad shape. We’ll see how this plays out. Im not even against paying them to do it. Especially if they are clever enough to figure out why there are so many different lenths and then execute the job properly.

Amazing. Haven’t come across a good finish amigo in the wild yet. Damn sure haven’t run across one that knows the phrase stock management…. In english or espanol. Good luck. Servpro job?

Haha. You know it. I was surprised because i usually find our brothers from the south cutting quarter round with those stupid fucking scissors making it hell on earth for me to caulk and paint behind them.

You get them and train them and they are awesome workers. I see crews showing up in my area now. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the work though

Yeah. I dont want to give the wrong impression. I love our brothers from the south. And without getting to bogged down in miriad issues, i feel like us small contractors need to pay them the same as everyone else. Paying poverty wages to any group drags the entire industry down.

100 percent on this. Dignity and respect go a long way with everyone

I’ve only lived in FL, not the panhandle, and the L.A. area my whole life. Mexican people are cool as hell. Hard workers. Tough as heck boxers. Dirty ass soccer players. Shitty and dirty basketball players. When I lived in my buddy’s orange grove for a bit, I mostly just kicked it with the workers. Mexicans, Guatemalans, and Salvadorans. Ate a ton of tacos and tamales. Drank a lot of Modelo. They loved fat hookers too. Guys spent most of their money on chunky pros. Fun times. Haha

Cool experience. I talked to a Salvadoran about what he left. After hearing his story I’m not surprised by the tough as hell part. Most of us have never been anywhere near the level of violence that they have seen.

I had fiber run through the property a couple of months ago. Had a chance to visit with some of the workers. One dude was from South Africa. He was a white dude. Showed scars from two shootings and three knife wounds.
Yep.

The USA is definitely insulated for a lot of people. The ghetto is the exception here. The violence here is way more hidden and contained.
It definitely exists, but not like in some of these countries
Amazing to me that a country of immigrants is so against new immigrants. It kind of makes me sad

We aren’t. We are against breaking and entering. There’s a big difference. I will welcome a stranger through my front door if he proves who he is. It’s the stranger that I know nothing about crawling through the window at the back of my house that I don’t welcome.
You are my friend but in this we disagree.
Come in legally by the millions and welcome. Those good decent people that broke our laws to enter the country need to be gently shipped back and those that are gang bangers and violent criminals need to be handled however necessary.
Now, having said all that, our immigration laws truly need to change to allow easier entry and a faster path to legal citizenship. The way it is now is unfair and cruel. I have friends that went through that system and it sucked. But that was better for the country than massive waves of unvetted illegal immigrants.

That’s just how I feel. I’m not saying don’t come, just follow the laws that are in place.

You need to countersink bulkheads otherwise the lip will hold some runoff, if going DIY benches.

Gotcha. I ran into that problem on the mini, tent sized, ebb n flow i built. It was algae city in that bitch.

I feel like if i make the base of the table out of 2 layers of subfloor i can probably just cut like a 5"Ɨ5" square out of the top layer and have a 3/4" drop. That should be more than enough i would assume.

@MoBilly im all for open dialogue. The floor is yours bro, cook away.

My feelings are pretty simple on the issue. I find it pretty funny when a bunch of drug criminals sit around and talk about how everyone else should follow the law.
