Indoor Growing Tips

Okay, so first of all I want to apologize for being kind of an idiot but I hope you guys can still help me out with some advice

So the other day I was smoking weed and I was like: “Why am I paying 10€ a gram when it’s legal to grow my own?”

So I bought the Spider Farmer 120x60x180cm indoor tent as a set with a controller by grow hub, a 4 inch fan, a filter and what not.

Now I have realized that the only place I can put the thing reasonably is also my living room which is where I sleep and the humidity is something like 70% in here during the summer so it’s probably quite a bad idea to grow in here.

I am still very much eligible for refunding my set (thanks, customer protection laws) and I am
considering some different options right now:

  • Should I move this thing to the basement (for the sake of having a more comfortable living room)?
  • Should I keep it here?

On a different note:

-Should I stick with a tent or get like a grow cabinet or build a fridge type of set up

Honestly I don’t really care about the cost of growing my own weed as long as it’s within my (relatively big) budget and I know I can just get a steady output for my own consumption over a long span of time.

I have looked at the V Grow All In One Smart Grow Box because it can be had here for 720€ here which I know is not a good value but I’ve only found like 2 other options here in Germany one of which is double the price and the other one (Hey Abby) has pretty bad reviews.

From what I have gathered the V Grow thing isn’t good or even capable of AC and I’d still need to put in a good deal of work to controll humidity and climate.

Also I don’t want to spend much more than 1000€ on everything and I hope to be able to have a low electricty cost in terms of the long term price. I’m totally new to growing weed and being a musician (hence the jzz in my name) I travel a lot so the more automation I can get, the better.
I’ve spend about 500€ on the whole spider thing with everything EXCEPT de-humidifier and watering solution which would probably cost another few hundred.

So, yeah…What do you guys think?
What’s the best way for me
to grow a good amount of weed for private consumption as cheaply as possible but more importantly wity as much automation and as little gardening work as possible?
Growing outdoors is not an option unfortunately because I have a lot of issues with pigeons here that would probably destroy the plants eventually just because they’re all over my balcony all the time.

Really grateful for any advice
Kind regards
paul

Sounds like you need a dehumidifier and some kind of automated watering setup.

How long do you spend away from your plants while travelling?

First let’s look at the obvious.
You I am sure would want this in your basement where it isn’t obvious for any visitors you want to entertain. But if your humidity is 70% upstairs it is probably worse in your basement. So here is my suggestion to you:

  1. Get a dehumidifier and instead of using a pan for the accumulation of the water use a hose to expel the water to a drain or storage container. If using a storage container lift the dehumidifier up on a stand so gravity can do the draining for you.
  2. As far as watering I suggest getting a storage container (once again on a stand) like this (below) and implement a drip irrigation system for your plants: (you can put this on a water timer in necessary).
  1. As far as using a tent or not that is totally up to you. Just remember the more you produce the more lights, nutrients, electricity and supplies it takes on a daily basis…

  2. Put your lights on a timer. This is obvious but I had tio include it.

  3. Welcome to Overgrow!

Thats awesome, i hadnt seen the cheap rain collectors…just the expensive wood barrel setups or the big blue/white drum ones.

Might have to grab me a couple of those at that price

Okay guys so I have set up the tent in my basement now. Still need to find a solution for heating and humidity. Actually the humidity in my basement is only around 60% so maybe it won’t be too big of an issue?
I’m a bit worried about bugs and spiders though especially since I’ve considered using the window in my basement for letting air out and in.
Tomorrow I’ll be visiting a grow shop and get their advice on how to handle it.
I’ll definitely post here once I finish my first grow
