Issued in 1977…

I don’t think I’ve seen a 2 chambered bong quite like that.

I remember seeing some sketchy bongs in the early 70’s.
Units built from acrylic tubes & glue, bamboo & ceramic come to mind. I haven’t thought about that in a long while…

The use borosilicate was a major game changer but I can’t quite remember when I saw the first one… I think it was mid 70’s?

Right, 1977. What I find interesting is the usage of two chambers and the kickhole (44) infused into the water. I’ve never seen this design in a glass bong.

So, not only was this designed for smokers, but it also used moisturized air when releasing the kickhole.

Around 1990 in Germany, there was a disgusting revival of plastic pipes, so let’s not talk about that.

This is just so funny that someone describes scientifically, over three paragraphs, how a bong rip works

i made a few interesting ones in the 90s from acrylics. they were easy to heat up a bit over the stove to twist or even blow out. problem with them was that you had to use a metal bowl and rubber grommet, screwed up the taste.

I heard the bong was invented in thailand made by bamboo they had always one at hand.
Somehow the bong is more traditional than we think.
