Introduce Yourself @OG (Part 1)

I keep everything in one thread for growing, other topics I start a new one.

You can have all-in-one topic for your activities if you wish. Preferred way is to have a topic per project/batch or a topic per garden.

Certainly all updates in a plant development should be placed in a single topic, that is why we have timeline on the right.

One per garden makes sense to me

Hi everyone, I’m up in NW Washington state and am really excited to join the community! I’ve never been much of a forum goer or online communicator, this is actually my first time being registered at one, but I’ve been a medical patient for fifteen years or so, and used to operate a community garden until 2015 when WA dismantled it’s medical system once the recreational system was up and running, unsurprisingly. I haven’t grown since as I got busy working in the recreational industry, as it seemed like the only avenue left, but was predictably frustrating, and haven’t had space where I’ve been living. At the moment though I am currently in between jobs and moving to somewhere more suitable, so I’m super excited to get my personal medical grow going again. I’ve been struggling to find high quality medicine and I just really miss the plants themselves, life feels a little sad without their company. I’ve also been missing getting to share my obsession with other like-minded herb nerds, so I’m very much looking forward to being part of the community, I know it’ll take care of that itch, I hope I’ll be able to contribute some useful experience and I know I’m going to learn so much from everyone!

Welcome to OG Quercus, for your first forum sign up you made a great choice

Don’t be shy about asking how things work, it can be a little confusing even for people who use online groups a lot.

Hello everyone. I just started growing again after a 10 year break. I have a 2x2 tent and a couple plants going currently. I will start a grow journal on my next run, after these plants finish up probably in a month or so. I’m currently growing a Mephisto Toof Decay, and a Night Owl Foot Cheeze, both auto flowers. For my next grow, I’m going to run Annunaki Genetics Orange Kush x Huckleberry Soda, and Crockett’s Tangie. I used to do a lot of outdoor gardening, but now I’m limited to my small tent. This community seems really cool, so I thought I’d join up and enjoy all the great content on here. Thanks for having me!

Welcome to OG iron00monkey, for some reason the name of that strain does not make me want to try and grow it  I hope it smells and tastes better than its name lol.

Thanks @Shadey, I’m starting to figure it out I think, sure is an active community with lots going on. As far as I can tell I’m now trust level 2, but need to be level 3 before I can post a seed pack for donation in the seed runs co-op? I’ve got a pack of Velvet Rush that I’m not going to be able to run myself for various reasons but definitely want to see preserved.

That does sound like a great one to preserve! How old are those beans? From what I’ve heard that is the Blue Thai genetics that DJ Short used that eventually turned into his Blueberry line.

Yeah, that’s my understanding of it too, theoretically it’s pretty direct from the Blue Thai or Blue Highland Thai. Definitely an interesting heirloom both from a genetic and cultural / historical perspective. The pack is pretty new, they were gifted to me by Gas from Swami Organic Seeds when I got to chatting with him at a cup event in 2019. I assume they were recently produced but I haven’t ever seen them on Swami’s available beans list, so don’t really know the story. I’ve been drooling over them for 18 months now, I’d love to play with something so directly tropical and archetypal, but I’ve had to accept that I’m unlikely to be able to give them what they want in the limited space I’ve got to work with, and up here North and West of Seattle they definitely don’t get to be in the sun because both they and I would be very sad by mid-October. To be honest, one of the reasons I chose to sign up here at OG was the seed runs co-op being as active and constructive as it obviously is, the conservation of Cannabis genetics is much on my mind even though I don’t really have the space or time to contribute directly. So I’m stoked to know that I’ll be able to put them in the hands of a community that will ensure the genetics are safe and available to those who want them
