Is Nirvana still legit

Hello everyone. I am a little surprised to find myself here…I am Oldsterone, and I was part of the original Overgrow about 25 years ago…I wonder what happened to Northern Dude, Stoner133, Backcountry up in Oregon. Oh well…one hour sweeps into the next.

In my 60’s, as a small time outdoor grower in Minnesota, I have become a big fan in recent years of Lucky 13 seeds, and I remain devoted to Dr. Sprout. I would like to supplement, and I am wondering if anyone is still a fan of Nirvana…I need to beat mold, and I am interested in their Northern Lights and Blue Dream. Do they still know more or less what they are doing?

Welcome back @Oldsterone

No idea about Nirvana, but ive tryed Lucky13 before and was happy about that.

My climate doesn’t really give me much worry about mold too much, but maybe some OG’ERS can be helpful with tips.

Hopefully you stick around and chat a while ,)

Much like you I ordered from Nirvana back in the day, but these days it’s totally not necessary. A “Local” seedbank like GLG would be my recommendation. Also OG would be a legit source for beans as well. Just my 2 cents mate, welcome back!

I am not sure if he is talking about the nirvana seed bank or the strain nirvana. I wouldn’t recommend either.

Just like the bug spray, it was Once N Done for me, my seed purchases led to wasted time and money.

Nirvana was one of the hand full of breeder to sell seeds in the early days ! grew their “bubblicious” was very good - their strain are solid and even the customer service believe they are some 30yr old ranks up there with Emery + a few other (a bit of history)

I used Nirvana for green crack and amnesia haze seeds. I wasn’t unhappy with the results. My buddy grew their blue dream and Bruce banner. Both were nice smoke as well. I unfortunately can’t comment on the relative closeness to the originals as I’ve not had the legit cut of any of those strains. But seed quality and plants quality were both good.

I would avoid them now. Highly recommend @JohnnyPotseed. Killer genetics, 10/10 germ rates, sends fast from in the us and has a deal going right now that cannot be beat. Keeping it in the og fam and growing amazing herb win/win. If you have trouble finding his current list let me know or shoot him a dm

I actually still have an old pack of northern lights from nirvana, from maybe 10 (ish) years ago. I only grew a few seeds out of the pack and they were terrible. I think I got 2 females or maybe 3. But I remember for sure that none of them even grew normal buds. No true bud formation at all. They just grew a bunch of branches with white pistils and some calyx’s. There was nothing to even smoke.

I may have just been unlucky with the seeds I sprouted. Nirvana seeds were always a bit hit or miss. Sometimes you’d get really nice plants, other times not so much.

If you’re looking for northern lights, you should check out “Authentic genetics”. He has the original old NL#1, NL#2 and NL#5. I think he also has the old skunk 1 from Sam (skunkman) too.

and as someone else said, there’s so many good US based seed banks and breeders these days there’s not much reason to use nirvana, especially for northern lights or blue dream.

They had a white rhino line that was pretty killer. I remember it being super consistent and stable. Not the terpiest but easy to grow and strong

Have only popped a pack of seeds from them. I can’t complain. Lot of good breeders in the us these days to choose from!

considering Nirvana’s on line presence way back when - there are many, many “better” breeders now-a-days in 2024

There appear to be several mold-resistant strains available now, including my personal favorite, Trainwreck. Not that mold is much of an issue here.

hi bud . cant offer you any advice based on their seeds. ive recently contemplated much the same as yourself . i basically decided to not buy anything from them when checking out their website. all that was on offer was feminised shit and autos . That should pretty much tell you what you are dealing with right there and then . FYI for some reason there is some regular seeds from nirvana on seedsman. personally i would not even bother so much other seed makers which at least present themselves like they know something  cheers

Hey Oldsterone

Yes, can you believe it Nirvana is still in business their seed bank is filled if you remember with High Times Cannabis Cup winners.
