I’m Japonego, a Brazilian who loves to unwind from the stress of working in IT by taking care of my indoor garden.
I started growing around 2011/12 and ran several cycles until 2015. I’ve always used Growroom extensively for research — it’s where I found posts from some really skilled folks who still inspire me to this day. Even though I took a break from growing between 2015 and 2024, I never stopped learning and occasionally followed grow journals on the forum.
Intro done — let’s get to the good stuff:
I restarted my grow last year with a completely different setup from what I had back in the day. Now, with slightly more structured gear, I’m on my second cycle, which consists of:
Grow tent: Vivosun 90x90x180cm
Soil bed: 200L
Lighting: QBAR YXO 320w LED (LM301H Evo)
Exhaust fan: 150mm
Circulation fan: 20cm
Soil Composition
Base mix: Peat, coco coir, perlite, biocharred rice hulls, and worm castings
Amendments: Bokashi, biochar, azomite, rock phosphate, thermophosphate, kelp meal, bone meal, potassium silicate (greensand), agricultural gypsum, humic extract, diatomaceous earth, castor cake, and neem cake
I also produce my own vermicompost (worm castings).
Sorry guys, I started the thread without any pics because I planned to add them right after. But I forgot it had to go through approval first, and by the time it got approved, I was caught up with Mother’s Day weekend.
Without further ado, I’ll start by sharing some pics from my old grows — kind of a way to save them forever and remind myself where I came from and how it all started.
I was still using HQI and HPS — those were my first grows.
The setup was a 120x120 tent with a 250w HQI for veg and a 400w HPS for flowering.
Now I’m gonna share my new setup — this was from the first cycle after getting back into growing.**
In this initial test run, I started with some FastBuds autos, mainly to harvest a bit quicker and also because I was curious about autoflowers. There was a time on Growroom when I saw a lot of people growing them, so I figured I’d give it a try.
Anyway, here are some pics from that first cycle: 2 x OG Kush and 2 x Strawberry Gorilla.
In this new cycle, I didn’t make any major setup upgrades — I just added another 50L of soil to the bed, bringing it to a total of 200L.
I started by planting a few companion plants to help condition the top layer of new soil. I also made a few additions, including:
Homemade worm castings
Liquid and solid Bokashi
Humic and Fulvic acids
Trichoderma
Bacillus
Mycorrhizae
Alquifish Mel
Aloe vera FPE
FFJ (Fermented Fruit Juice)
I popped a DNA Genetics pack of 24K Gold (Kosher Tangie).
Out of the 5 seeds in the pack, using my usual germination method (directly in the bed), 4 sprouted. But one of them really stalled — I thought it wouldn’t make it at all. So I ended up replacing it with another OG Kush Auto, which was a freebie from Flora Urbana that came with the 24K pack.
Remember this whole situation — we’ll come back to it later, hahaha.
Pois é @sintropico, eu curtia bastante HPS mano… foda era controlar o ambiente com ela sem ar condicionado. Energia também vinha muito cara, nuuuh hehehe
It’s Monday, so time for a quick update on how the plants are doing today. I also wanna start sharing a bit more detail about what I’ve been doing here.
First off — remember how I mentioned earlier that we’d talk about two of the plants later on? Well, that time has come.
My 24K #4 seed took over a week to sprout, and when it finally did, it came up all twisted and stunted. While her sisters were already looking great by week three, she hadn’t even opened her cotyledons yet. So I figured she wasn’t gonna make it and dropped an auto seed in her spot.
Surprisingly, both of them started growing — way weaker than the others, but still going. The thing is, the OGK Auto wasn’t getting any light anymore, so I decided to feed her to the worms. That way, 24K #4 gets a little nutrient boost and doesn’t have to share the tiny bit of light left in that corner.
I started doing some updates yesterday, but then I stopped to dinner and never made it back. My bad!!!
Let’s go:
Besides that Auto that’s gonna turn into humus, there was still another issue to deal with — since I waited a bit to see if 24K #4 would bounce back, the other three 24K got massive, and now that we’re in flowering, they’re almost touching the light panel.
Yep, my friends… a grower’s life ain’t all flowers!
This strain is pretty different from the ones I’ve grown before. Early in veg, phenos #2 and #3 showed some light stress.
I’ll go into more detail about each pheno in the next update, but what I really want to point out is that while it is an easy strain to grow, it’s been teaching me new things — and that’s super exciting. They’re all heavy feeders and growing like crazy. That’s why I brewed another batch of aerated humus tea yesterday, and I’ll be watering them with it today.
That said, I have a feeling I’ll need to supplement their feeding somehow later on.
Interesting… I’m looking to use this Organolab mix (Bokashi, ocean mix and Fuel). I see that you are using EM1 too… Whats the other products in this pic ?
If you could, tell us the difference after you use and how you apply
Sorry my bad english
