I wanted to share a recent experience I had with @JohnnyPotseed involving my third purchase from a true gent with OG spirit. My recent purchase was done
for more Frankie crosses. The sale he has going through the end of the year sealed it for me.
I’ve been retired for 8 years now on a fixed income so when I can get beans for as little as a dollar, I love it. My recent purchase was done after the auction for the bills they have piling up from both himself and his wife’s hospital stay.
The recent purchase was for a sale he has going for $10 a pack. That’s a dollar per bean. I bought 7 packs. I always add tracking to purchases whenever possible as it gives me a sense of where they are at in route to my mailbox. He sent them off in a timely manner and they made it from OK to MI in record time. That is where the snafu within the USPS started.
They went from the east side of the state to the west side of the state multiple times over a two week period. They hit multiple distribution hubs many times. They landed in Detroit 3 times, Saginaw twice, then Grand Rapids, then Lansing.
They were going everywhere but where they were supposed to go. I got excited when they finally arrived in Grand Rapids as that is the closest distribution center.
From there they would normally go to my small town post office. Imagine my disappointment when they were then sent to Lansing, and then on to Detroit for the 3rd time. It was like watching a painfully slow game of table tennis with my magic beans.
Johnny had also watched it also wondering if he had mislabeled the package. It turns out that he had not. It was a sticky label with a typed name, address, and zip code that were correct. The fault was all USPS. When it finally left Detroit for the third time, for the 9 following days, the tracking was updated twice with the message, “In route to destination”. I kept checking the mailbox everyday with “high” hopes, *puny, but nothing but bills and political mail as it’s that time of the season.
Johnny stepped up and told me he was going to resend them, so he had his wife Rose go to their post office and resend them.
I choose to be eternally hopeful and keep the faith when things like this happen.
Also take it from a die hard ice fisherman, patience is a virtue. Well after we had
talked about all of this with dms, the following day the package that had been bouncing back and forth from one side of my state to the other, that original package arrived safe and sound, with the correct address plainly visible on the package.
I even sent a pic to Johnny to see if it was the one he had sent, or did
the USPS repackage it with the correct address after doing a name check for my correct address.
Neither one of had a clue as to why it was bouncing from one distribution hub to another except for the possibility that it was not labeled correctly. When Johnny confirmed that the package was the one he had sent off with a printed label that had my correct name, address, and zip code. It was labeled correctly and as plain as the nose on my face. The day before it arrived, I even renewed my USPS delivery notifications hoping that if the package with tracking was mislabeled, that would help it arrive. I did it late in the day, the day before it arrived so I don’t believe that was it. Apparently they finally got someone who could read to look at the package and get it sent to where it was supposed to go. For 9 days, nothing but “In route to destination”.
After telling JP all of this, he told that the second replacement package should be arriving soon, and that I should keep the seeds from both. Now that is a man with integrity who stands proudly behind what he does. He has got my vote, and I would ask that all here that want some bargain pricing on some of his work to take
advantage of the sale he has going through the end of the year.
A long story I know, but the wait watching them bounce from one side of the
state to the other was much longer. In the first two packages I bought from JP, they arrived in a week or less. This latest was close to 3 weeks. The replacement package arrived in 5 days.
Apparently the USPS does not hire the best and brightest as they used to when I was a young man. I took the aptitude test when I was in my early 20s as the job was a well paid one with bennies. I missed out, probably because I did not have the extra 5 points veterans were given when taking the aptitude test. I digress, but after watching their ineptitude for the last few weeks, can you blame me?
In short, JP has my vote. I highly recommend buying from him. In the mean time, I’m going to figure out a way to gift the replacement beans he sent me, as I would feel guilty keeping them and the giving OG spirit is strong here, and contagious.
Enjoy the get together today. Wish I could be there.
Thanks again JP.
Peace
